Aqueous composition comprising a color former, a developer, and a binder, wherein (a) the weight ratio between the developer and the color former is in the range of from 1 to 5; (b) the binder comprises an acrylate binder, comprising acrylic acid and styrene, and at least one additional monomer selected from the group consisting of &#x3b1;-methyl styrene, ethyl acrylate and 2-ethylhexyl acrylate; and (c) the color former and/or the developer are present in an un-encapsulated form; a process for the preparation of these compositions, substrates coated with this composition and a process for its preparation, and a process for preparing a marked substrate using this composition.

Aqueous laser-sensitive composition for marking substrates

The present invention provides polymeric particles comprising a polymeric matrix comprising one or more water-insoluble polymers and a laser-sensitive system encapsulated in the polymeric matrix. It also provides a process for the preparation of the polymeric particles, a composition comprising the polymeric particles, a process for the preparation of this composition, a process for forming a laser-sensitive coating layer on a substrate using this composition, a coated substrate obtainable by the coating process, a process for preparing a marked substrate and a marked substrate obtainable by the marking process.

Laser-sensitive coating formulations

Coating composition for marking substrates

The present invention provides a laser-sensitive coating composition comprising titanium dioxide in the anatase form or polymeric particles comprising a polymeric matrix comprising one or more water-insoluble polymers and titanium dioxide in the anatase form encapsulated in the polymeric matrix, and a polymeric binder. The present invention also provides a process for the preparation of the compositions, processes for preparing substrates coated with the coating compositions, substrates coated with the compositions, processes for marking the substrates coated with the compositions, and marked substrates obtainable by the latter processes.

Laser-sensitive coating composition

The present invention provides a composition, which comprises an aqueous solvent and forms a transparent colorless coating, which yields markings of high contrast on exposure to energy. It also provides a process for the preparation of these compositions, substrates coated with these compositions and a process for their preparation, a process for preparing marked substrates using these compositions and marked substrates obtainable by the latter process.

Aqueous and transparent coatings for marking substrates

The present invention provides coating compositions comprising (i) a) a compound containing a free carbonyl group and b) a nucleophile or (ii) a compound containing a free carbonyl group, which compound is substituted with one or more nucleophilic groups. The present invention also provides a process for the preparation of these compositions, substrates coated with these compositions and a process for their preparation, a process for preparing marked substrates using these compositions, and marked substrates obtainable by the latter process.

Electromagnetic radiation or thermally sensitive composition

The present invention provides coating compositions for marking substrates, which comprise a colour former in an amount of from 0.01 to 50%, a metal salt of a carboxylic acid in an amount of from 0.01 to 50%, a binder in an amount of from 1 to 80% and an organic solvent in an amount of from 1 to 99%, wherein each amount is by weight based on the weight of the composition. The present invention also provides a process for the preparation of the composition of the present invention, substrates coated with these compositions and a process for preparing a marked substrate using these compositions.

Coating compositions for marking substrates

The present invention provides coating compositions for marking substrates, which comprises a color former, an amine salt of an organic metal compound, a binder, a solvent, and optionally additional components, wherein the amine salt of the organic metal compound is of formula (I) in which X is silicon or boron, and E and F are the same or different and are selected from the group consisting of a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h in which Rand Rare the same or different are hydrogen, C-alkyl, C-alkoxy, halogen, amino or carboxy, and for X=silicon o=1 and p=0, and Ris aryl, aralkyl or C-alkyl, or o=1 and p=1, and Rand Rtogether form a one residue selected from the group consisting of a, b, c, d, e, f, g and h, and for X=boron o=0 and p=0, and R, Rand Rare the same or different and are hydrogen, C-alkyl, C-hydroxyalkyl, allyl, aralkyl or arylsulfonyl, in which aralkyl or arylsulfonyl can be substituted with C-alkyl, or Rand Rtogether with the nitrogen to which they are attached form a morpholino or piperidino ring. The present invention also provides a process for the preparation of the composition of the present invention, substrates coated with these compositions, a process for preparing coated substrates, a process for preparing a marked substrate using these compositions, a marked substrate obtainable by the latter process and amine salts of the organic metal compounds of formula I.
