A portable apparatus () providing both substantially automated performance monitoring and audio entertainment features. In a preferred embodiment the apparatus () broadly comprises a portable housing (); an attachment mechanism (); a GPS component (); a heart rate monitor component (); an audio component (); a user interface (); a processor (); and a power supply (). The housing () may include a headset () wherein the GPS component () is located, and a second housing component () wherein the processor () is located, wherein the GPS component () communicates with the processor () in a wireless manner. The apparatus () is adapted to determine a number of laps or a distance, to provide an elapsed time, and to determine a speed.

Portable apparatus with performance monitoring and audio entertainment features

A carrying assembly () having an easy release clip for carrying of an electronic device () is disclosed. In both a first and a second preferred embodiment, the easy release clip of the carrying assembly () allows a user to insert and remove the electronic device () in one step and without having to depress a release key. In the first preferred embodiment, the carrying assembly () is adjustable so that the electronic device () may be positioned in a horizontal position, a vertical position, or any position between horizontal and vertical. The carrying assembly () broadly comprises a rear panel (), a spring component () including an integral leaf spring (), a retainer button (), and a base (). In a second preferred embodiment, the carrying assembly () is fitted to a lanyard so that the electronic device () may be worn around the user's neck. Carrying assembly and method for securement of electronic devices

A wearable electronic device () is disclosed comprising a location determining component () enclosed by an elongated housing () and a strap () operable to secure the housing to a user's forearm for use during exercise or other periods of activity. The housing () includes a display () and at least one input (). The display () communicates information concerning the device () and the input () controls the operation of the location determining component (). In a first preferred embodiment, the location determining component () is a GPS receiver operable to determine a geographic location of the device (). In a second preferred embodiment, the device () comprises a location determining component () and an exercise performance monitor component () operable to compute information relative to the user's exercise. In a third preferred embodiment, the device () comprises a location determining component () and an entertainment component () operable to execute at least one game. In a fourth preferred embodiment, the device () comprises a location determining component (), an exercise performance monitor component () and an entertainment component ().

Wearable GPS device

A system and method for wirelessly linking electronic marine components () to associated displays () to reduce or eliminate the need for application-specific wiring between the components () and the displays (). The system includes an electronic component () adapted for mounting on a marine vessel () and operable for generating data representative of a function of the electronic component (); a wireless transmitter () coupled with the electronic component () for wirelessly transmitting the data; a display () adapted for mounting on the marine vessel () remotely from the electronic component () and operable for displaying information corresponding to the data; and a wireless receiver () coupled with the display () and operable for wirelessly receiving the data from the wireless transmitter (). The wireless transmitter () and the wireless receiver () transmit and receive the data via BlueTooth or WiFi communication protocols.
