Control lines are secured to a completion string by a wrap wound around the completion string and control lines. The control lines are positioned adjacent to the completion string as it is lowered towards a well, and the wrap is wound helically around the lines and string in an open or closed loop manner. The placement and pitch of the wrap may be regulated, such as based upon the rate of advancement of the string into the well. One or multiple wraps may be used, and successive turns of the one or more wraps may overlap or be spaced from one another.

Control line securement method and system

A system includes a top drive system equipped with a mounted winch configured to draw tubular or well equipment into alignment with a quill of the top drive system. The winch comprises a spool and a flexible line that extends from the spool and through channels in the top drive system, exiting through the quill. An attachment feature at the distal end of the flexible line couples the flexible line with the tubular or drilling equipment. Once this coupling has been established, the winch may rotate such that the flexible line retracts through the quill of the top drive system, drawing the tubular or well equipment into alignment with the quill.

Present embodiments are directed to a tubular catcher system configured to detect a falling tubular through a drilling rig and grip the tubular before it drops into the wellbore. A sensor configured to detect the velocity or acceleration of the tubular activates an actuation mechanism when the velocity or acceleration exceeds a specific threshold, indicating a falling tubular. The actuation mechanism forces a gripping mechanism into contact with the tubular, catching the tubular and sending energy from the tubular to a hydropneumatic shock absorber coupled to the actuation mechanism and/or the gripping mechanism.

Tubular catcher system and method

A casing gripper is stabbed into a casing and energized by a top drive, gripping the casing. The casing gripper includes a load bearing mandrel that has external threads. The casing gripper also includes a nut threaded over the external threads, and a wrench having a portion of the upper end of the load bearing mandrel inserted into an opening of the wrench. The wrench is configured to prevent rotation of the nut but allow axial movement while the op drive rotates the mandrel. The casing gripper includes a grapple coupled to the nut and extending along a portion of the lower end of the load bearing mandrel. The grapple moves axially with the nut an is configured to radially expand and engage a casing member.

Non-Newtonian fluids, such as partially polymerized monomers or solutions of polymer in monomer may be pressure atomized below the surface of an immiscible continuous liquid phase to produce a dispersed phase having a uniform particle size distribution. A dual or customized size distribution can be obtained by imposing a controlled pressure pulsation on a flowing fluid upstream the atomizer inlet. Such dispersion may be further polymerized to produce a uniform or customized bead size product.
