A method of dynamic allocation of program libraries to an application server is provided. In addition to a static allocation of libraries to the server at initialization time, libraries can be added to or removed from the set available to a server while that server is active. New libraries are created as resource objects specifying a set of locations from which programs can be loaded. Each library is allocated a ranking which the system can use to identify its place in the loader's search order relative to other libraries. New library resources are dynamically installed and added to a list of available libraries, including the system's pre-defined library of locations, in a position in the loader's search order determined in accordance with the allocated ranking.

Dynamic allocation of program libraries

A method and system for processing MTOM messages comprising a root document and one or more binary attachments referenced by the root document, in a Web service requester or provider. When an inbound MTOM message is received, a pipeline comprising a plurality of message handlers is selected to process the received message. The message is unpackaged by separating the binary attachments from the root document, and the pipeline properties are checked to determine if conversion of the message is required. Responsive to the result of the determination, either conversion of the message is carried out, by encoding the binary data in each of the attachments and replacing each reference in the root document to a binary attachment with the encoded data for that attachment, and processing the converted message by the pipeline, or the root document and binary attachments are processed by the pipeline.

The index can be referenced for read-only access by any number of simultaneous processes in parallel with being updated by a single process where the read-only access does not involve any locking or waiting.

System and method for managing concurrent access to data files

A system is described for producing a near-random hash value from a key value. In a preferred embodiment the system comprises the steps of combining each key byte in turn with a corresponding byte in a predefined table; substituting each key byte with a byte from a second table, the location of the substitute byte in the table being equal to the value of the key byte; and using a propagated exclusive-OR to produce a four-byte value, which is then manipulated and scaled to produce a hash value in the desired range.
