Systems and methods are provided for dynamically modeling and depicting overall emissions of the aviation industry and changes thereto when taking into account, for example, traffic growth and introduction of sustainability strategies, such as new and/or improved technologies, an increase in operational efficiency, and carbon offsets. Using the dynamic tool described herein, users can define scenarios on how to reduce emissions through the introduction of different sustainability strategies, both statically and over time, analyze the impact of those strategies on emissions, and understand the dependencies between select strategies.

A method includes separating a flight plan of a vehicle into a number of portions with each portion including a particular length that is determined based on a complexity of an environment where the flight plan takes place. The complexity of the environment is based on at least one of a set of factors including at least one of a terrain of the environment, one or more obstacles, one or more no-fly zones, or one or more no-landing zones within the environment. The method also includes determining an escape route for each portion of the flight plan. The escape route includes a route to a safe landing site in response to a failure of a system onboard the vehicle. The method additionally includes generating an escape route plan for the flight plan in response to all portions of the flight plan being assigned at least one escape route.

Techniques for updating wake separation distance between aircraft are described. A sensors mesh within a flight path of an aircraft is used to detect when a wake vortex from the aircraft has drifted onto the sensor mesh. A minimum wake separation distance and separation interval for following aircraft are determined based on the various sensor measurements, environmental conditions, and aircraft properties. The minimum wake separation distance and separation interval are used to minimize aircraft separation distances between aircraft that are required due to wake vortex turbulence caused by aircraft during flight.

Embodiments are disclosed for a machine and process that include a computer code specially programmed for creating a runway extension speed for an aircraft taking off. The process may include sensing current location, current acceleration, and current speed, for the aircraft during takeoff roll; receiving, in a ROTTOWIRE, the current speed and the current acceleration for the aircraft; creating in the ROTTOWIRE an actual speed profile; creating, using a specially coded program in the ROTTOWIRE and the current acceleration, the runway extension speed via determining, for a current location of the aircraft, a distance from a departure end of the runway and a terminating distance required to terminate the takeoff to a stop of the aircraft on the runway, a distance until the aircraft reaches a designated height; and when the terminating distance equals the distance from the departure end of the runway; and presenting the runway extension speed.

This disclosure relates to navigating a vehicle based on predicted trajectories of other vehicles. Systems, methods, and computer-program products consistent with the disclosure perform operations including receiving location information of other vehicles. The operations also include comparing the location information of the other vehicles with an intended trajectory information of the vehicle. The operations further include determining that interference exists based on the comparing. Additionally, the operations include determining a modification to the intended trajectory information of the vehicle that resolves the interference with one of the other vehicles. Moreover, the operations include presenting the modification to the intended trajectory information of the vehicle to an operator of the vehicle. Further, the operations include modifying the intended trajectory using the modification.
