A method is disclosed herein for reducing energy consumption in a wireless device. A wireless device (e.g., a user equipment) can provide an indication to a network node (e.g., a base station) to indicate that the wireless device will prioritize energy consumption reduction over some network requirements (e.g., latency and/or scheduling flexibility requirements). Accordingly, the wireless device can perform certain power-saving actions to reduce energy consumption. The network node, upon receiving the indication from the wireless device, can perform certain network-related actions to assist the wireless device in reducing energy consumption. As a result, it is possible for the wireless device to reduce energy consumption and complexity, thus helping to prolong battery life in the wireless device.

Methods and devices for reducing UE energy consumption

Methods and apparatus in a fifth-generation wireless communications, including an example method, in a wireless device, that includes receiving a downlink signal comprising an uplink access configuration index, using the uplink access configuration index to identify an uplink access configuration from among a predetermined plurality of uplink access configurations, and transmitting to the wireless communications network according to the identified uplink access configuration. Embodiments described herein provide methods and apparatus for transmitting at least one data stream comprising a plurality of samples between a first wireless device and a second wireless device using machine-to-machine communication. A method in the first wireless device comprises receiving the at least one data stream; generating a first data packet comprising N of the plurality of samples, wherein N is an integer value of greater than or equal to 2; and transmitting the first data packet to the second wireless device.

It is provided a method for processing input media data. The method is performed in a media data processor and comprising the steps of: obtaining input media data; identifying, in the input media data, sensitive information; generating replacement information, wherein the replacement information is at least partly anonymised information corresponding to the sensitive information, and the replacement information contains at least one characteristic based on the sensitive information; modifying the input media data by replacing its sensitive information with the replacement information, resulting in a modified media data; and providing the modified media data for further processing.

Systems and methods are disclosed herein that relate to the use of a Device-to-Device (D2D) sidelink, e.g., in a licensed spectrum, to assist with clear channel assessment in an unlicensed spectrum. In doing so, the hidden node problem and/or the exposed node problem can be mitigated. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a wireless device in a cellular communications network comprises performing a sidelink-assisted clear channel assessment (SLA-CCA) procedure to determine whether to transmit on an unlicensed channel. The SLA-CCA procedure is a Clear Channel Assessment (CCA) procedure that is assisted by information received by the wireless device from one or more other wireless devices over a D2D sidelink in a licensed spectrum. The method further comprises, upon determining to transmit on the unlicensed channel as a result of performing the SLA-CCA procedure, transmitting a transmission on the unlicensed channel.

Sidelink assisted cooperative listen-before-talk

Messages are transmitted to a target device over a wireless network comprising a primary channel in which first messages are transmitted in a random access procedure, and a secondary channel in which second messages are transmitted using a dedicated access procedure, wherein each of the first messages comprises a pointer to the secondary channel, each first message comprising information about the transmitting device and the target device. For each of the first and second message, a transmission opportunity comprising a time slot for transmitting the corresponding message is selected and the primary channel is scanned to determine, based on the received first messages, whether a second message will be transmitted in the time slots selected for the first or second message in which the transmitting device or the target device is involved. The selected transmission opportunities are confirmed or amended based on a result of the scanning.
