The invention concerns controlling automatic gain control for a digital signal receiver. The method includes receiving a digital feedback signal for controlling an amplifier and processing the digital feedback signal to deliver a driving signal to an analog amplifier. Processing the digital feedback signal comprises regulating the evolution of the driving signal so that it is maintained constant during a predetermined period of time after every change.

Enhanced low noise amplifier

A protective circuit is disclosed for protecting an integrated circuit against electrostatic discharge, so-called ESD. The integrated circuit is connected to a supply voltage via a V.sub.cc -pad (2) and an earth pad (3). The protective circuit, which is particularly intended to protect a positively supplied circuit for radio frequency applications against both negative and positive voltage pulses, comprises an input pad (14) and at least one PNP-transistor (20), the input pad being connected to the integrated circuit, and the PNP-transistor being connected with its collector to the input pad, and its emitter to the V.sub.cc -pad or to the earth pad. The base of the PNP-transistor can be connected to its emitter either directly or via a resistor (24), or not be connected.

Protective circuit

The present invention relates to a method for arrangement of a buried capacitor on a substrate or the like, and a buried capacitor arranged according to the method. In order to diminish the resistive losses in a capacitor and to make it more efficient, in semi-conductor circuits, instead of the polycrystalline layer, one or more bodies of metal such as aluminum or tungsten may be used. This has been made possible using a new technique in which a trench filling of conducting material is etched away without removal through etching of the insulating layer in the trench. After the removal through etching of the trench filling, the trench is filled using the metal as above, whereby the insulating layer between the conducting material and the metal body will separate two conducting surfaces, thereby forming the buried capacitor.
