A flow means with a housing and a fan to generate a fluid flow within a pipe or hose line of an intake monitoring system. The fan can be connected to the pipe or hose line via connecting pieces and can be driven to rotate. The invention creates a flow means which enables the direction of flow to be reversed. Respective blocking means are assigned to the connecting pieces and can be moved from an intake position (PS), in which an intake region of the fan is connected to the respective connecting piece into an exhaust position (PB), in which an exhaust region of the fan is connected to the respective connecting piece so the flow within the pipe or hose line is in a first direction of flow (S) or in a second direction of flow (S) as a function of the position (PS, PB) of the blocking means.

The invention relates to a suction particle detection system () for detecting a fire, comprising a fluid line system () which opens into one or more monitored areas (i), and having a suction device (), connected in a fluid-guiding manner to the at least one pipe and/or hose line () in order to generate a test fluid flow () along the at least one pipe and/or hose line (), and a light guiding system () having one or more local detector modules () and designed for the local capture and transmission of scattered light scattered at scattering and/or smoke particles and/or designed for the capture and transmission of transmitted light passing through the scattering and/or smoke particles. In the suction particle detection system () at least one light guide () is connected to the one or more local detector modules () and a central analysis device () for evaluation.

A scattered light detector for the detection of particles, having a test section with a flow inlet and a flow outlet for forming a flow path through which the test fluid can flow, a light transmitter, which transmits a light beam in a radiation direction, with the transmitted light beam forming an intersection region with the flow path, a light receiver for receiving a scattered light fraction scattered on smoke particles in the intersection region, and a printed circuit board. The light transmitter and the light receiver are connected to the printed circuit board, with the light beam transmitted by the light transmitter being guided into the test section by means of an optical fiber deflecting the light beam, and the light receiver is arranged in such a manner that a direct or indirect scattered light path runs between the light receiver and the intersection region.
