A method of application service exchange across different execution environments includes receiving a registration to handle a service from a server application operating in a first execution environment, receiving a request for the service from a client application operating in a second execution environment, requesting the service from the server application, receiving a result from the server application responsive to the requesting step, and delivering the result to the client application.

Method of and system for application service exchange across different execution environments

Method and system for extending and/or modifying functionality of a platform for a product, such as a mobile terminal for a wireless telecommunications system. The system includes a platform domain having a software services component for providing functionality, and an interface component having at least one interface for providing access to the software services component for enabling application software to be installed, loaded and run in said platform via the at least one interface. The system also includes plug-in software for use together with the application software for extending and/or modifying the functionality of the software services component of the platform domain via the at least one interface.

Middleware application environment

Method and system for controlling access to a platform for a mobile terminal for a wireless telecommunications system or for another product. The system includes a platform having a software services component and an interface component having at least one interface for providing access to the software services component for enabling application domain software to be installed, loaded, and run in the platform. An access controller controls access to the software services component by the application domain software via the at least one interface. The access controller includes an interception module for receiving a request from the application domain software to access the software services component, and a security access manager for determining if the permission request should be granted. The application domain software is granted access to the software services component via the at least one interface if the permission request is granted by the security access manager.
