An implant for at least partially filling a bore hole in a bone includes a biocompatible plate and a support structure. The support structure has a ring-shaped inner support frame having an outer surface defining the outer diameter of the inner support frame and an inner surface, and an outer support frame having a plurality of fastening points adapted for attaching the implant to bone surrounding a bore hole in which the plate is inserted. The outer support frame is connected to and extends away from the outer surface of the inner support frame. A method of forming the implant is also provided.

A mosaic implant conformable to a curved surface, comprising first and second implant sections coupled along a beam portion extending across a length of the implant, each of the implant sections having&#x2014;a plurality of biocompatible mosaic plates, and&#x2014;a plurality of wires which interconnect the plates with one another. The mosaic implant is configured to be deformable such that at least a portion of the mosaic implant is conformable to a curved surface, with the beam portion providing structural support which resists inward deformation of the curved portion of the implant. A calcium phosphate monetite cement-forming composition comprises a monetite-forming calcium-based precursor powder and from 3 to 30 wt %, based on the weight of the precursor powder, of dicalcium pyrophosphate powder. Monetite cements formed form such compositions may be used in implants for correcting bone defects. Methods for bone defect repair employ implants formed from such monetite cements and slow implant resorption and/or improve in vivo bone induction in a patient.

Methods of forming hardened cements in vivo and/or for forming implants for use in vivo employ the hydraulic cement compositions.

Non-aqueous hydraulic cement compositions comprise a non-aqueous mixture of (a) a non-hydrated powder composition comprising calcium silicate powder or calcium aluminate powder, and (b) non-aqueous water-miscible liquid. Hardened cements are formed from such hydraulic cement compositions, and methods of producing hardened cements, kits, and articles of manufacture employ such hydraulic cement compositions.

In one embodiment, powder composition is a Brushite or Monetite-forming calcium phosphate powder composition. In another embodiment, the powder composition comprises porous &#x3b2;-tricalcium phosphate (&#x3b2;-TCP) granules and at least one additional calcium phosphate powder. In another embodiment, the powder composition comprises calcium silicate powder. In a further embodiment, the powder composition comprises calcium aluminate powder.
