A composition and a method for preparing a polymer composite article. The composition comprises (A) a filler in an amount of from 10 to 90 wt. The composition also comprises (B) a polymer in an amount of from 10 to 90 wt. %, wherein the (B) polymer is selected from polyolefins, polyamides, polyesters, or combinations thereof. Further, the composition comprises (C) an organopolysiloxane in an amount of from greater than 0 to 10 wt. %; the (C) organopolysiloxane having at least one silicon-bonded hydroxyl group and a viscosity of from 1,000 to 60,000 mPa·s at 25° C. The ranges for components (A)-(C) arc based on the total weight of components (A), (B) and (C) in the composition.

Composition, polymer composite article formed therewith, and method of preparing same

Provided is a silicone adhesive composition and an application thereof, that has a viscosity that enables coating even with a small amount of solvent content, has excellent curability due to hydrosilylation reaction, cures, has sufficient adhesive strength for practical use, and has excellent mechanical strength and elongation of the adhesive layer after curing, and can form a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer having sufficient adhesive strength for practical use. The adhesive composition comprises: (A) a chain-like organopolysiloxane having at least two aliphatic unsaturated carbon-carbon bond-containing groups only at the terminals of the molecular chain; (B) a straight-chain organohydrogenpolysiloxane having silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms only at both terminals of the molecular chain; (C) a resinous organopolysiloxane; and (D) an organopolysiloxane having at least one or more aliphatic unsaturated carbon-carbon bond-containing groups at locations other than the ends of the molecular chain, and having three or more aliphatic unsaturated carbon-carbon bond groups in the molecule.

A composition for forming a silicone elastomer is disclosed. The composition comprises: A) a linear organopolysiloxane having at least two silicon-bonded ethylenically unsaturated groups per molecule; B) a linear organohydrogensiloxane having at least two silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms per molecule; C) at least one cross-linker; and D) a hydrosilylation catalyst. The cross-linker C) is selected from the group consisting of: C1) an organopolysiloxane having at least three silicon-bonded ethylenically unsaturated groups per molecule; and C2) an organopolysiloxane having at least three silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms per molecule. At least one of the silicon-bonded ethylenically unsaturated groups of component C1) has a lower reactivity relative to the silicon-bonded ethylenically unsaturated groups of component A). Moreover, at least one of the silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms of component C2) has a lower reactivity relative to the silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms of component B). Methods of forming three-dimensional (3D) articles utilizing the compositions are also disclosed.

The present invention also provides a cured silicon composition, and an optical waveguide that includes the cured silicon composition.

The present invention provides an apparatus comprising a plurality of planar waveguides and method of making the same. The apparatus includes first, second, and third layers formed above a substrate and adjacent each other. The second layer is formed between the first and third layers of a material and comprises a plurality of organofunctional siloxane-based resin or polymer waveguides. Each waveguide has an input on one edge of the second layer and an output on one edge of the second layer so that the input and output are on different line-of-sight paths. The plurality of waveguides is formed such that intersections of the waveguides occur at approximately right angles and the outputs and inputs located on edges that are opposite one another are offset from each other in a direction that is perpendicular to the direction of the corresponding input or output signal.

Integrated planar polymer waveguide for low-loss, low-crosstalk optical signal routing

The present invention provides a planar waveguide. In one embodiment, the planar waveguide includes first and third layers formed above a substrate and adjacent each other. The first and third layers are formed of a first material having a first index of refraction. The planar waveguide also includes a second layer formed between the first and third layers of a second material having a second index of refraction that is larger than the first index of refraction. The planar waveguide further includes a plurality of organo-functional siloxane based resin or polymer waveguides formed in the second layer. Each organo-functional siloxane based resin or polymer waveguide has an input on one edge of the second layer and an output on one edge of the second layer so that the input and output are on different line-of-sight paths. The plurality of organo-functional siloxane based resin or polymer waveguides is formed such that intersections of the plurality of organo-functional siloxane based resin or polymer waveguides occur at approximately right angles.

Silicone elastomer base compositions containing a stabilizer are disclosed that provide cured silicone elastomers having improved high temperature performance. The stabilizer comprises carbon black, calcium carbonate, iron oxide, and optionally zinc oxide.
