A vaginal speculum apparatus includes a portable illumination assembly that is releasably attached to one of the upper blade and lower blade of a disposable vaginal speculum. The portable illumination assembly is defined by a housing that retains at least one LED and a portable power supply. The portable illumination assembly can be energized by an externally accessible member after the illuminator has been attached to the speculum.

A skin measuring microscope includes a housing, an electronic imager disposed along an imaging axis, and an illumination system. The illumination system includes a plurality of LEDs disposed in a ring-like configuration adjacent a distal end of the housing.

Digital-based medical devices

A portable medical illuminator is configured for attachment to a medical device wherein the illuminator includes an illuminator housing and a light source disposed in relation to the housing. A portable rechargeable power supply is connected to the light source, and an inductive charging coil is disposed within the illuminator housing to enable contactless charging of the contained portable power supply.

An example system to capture digital images includes: a colposcope device configured to capture a digital image during a colposcopy procedure; and an image processing module programmed to digitally process the digital image, including: a filter module programmed to filter certain aspects of the digital image; and an overlay module programmed to allow the digital image to be annotated. In other examples, colposcope devices include: a cradle, the cradle being configured to hold a portable computing device, the cradle including an aperture; and an optical capture device, the optical capture device including a constant magnification lens system, the constant magnification lens system being configured to direct light through the aperture.

A system automatically captures a fundus image with limited user interaction such that the fundus image has one or more desired characteristics. The system can retrieve at least one image from an image capture device, process the at least one image digitally to generate a processed image, detect at least one point of interest in the processed image, determine that each of the at least one point of interest is representative of a corresponding feature of the eye, and obtain a fundus image of the eye based on the at least one image.

Automatic fundus image capture system

An example system includes a patch defining a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface. The first surface is removably attachable to skin of a subject. The patch includes a conductor associated with the first surface, a first sensor configured to determine a temperature of the conductor, and a second sensor configured to determine an additional temperature. The first sensor is separated from the second sensor by material having a known thermal resistance. The patch also includes a transmitter operably connected to the first and second sensors.

Body-worn thermometry solutions

A handheld device includes an electronic instrument and a capacitive power supply for storing and delivering power to the electronic instrument. The capacitive power supply includes at least one capacitor, and an electronic circuit operable to boost a voltage from the capacitor to a higher voltage for use by the electronic instrument. The capacitive power supply can be rapidly recharged. Some configurations include an accelerometer which permits the handheld device to detect movement and perform various operations responsive to detected movement. A dual charging station is also disclosed.

Motion sensitive and capacitor powered handheld device

A hand-held medical device includes a housing, an electronic imager, and an optical system aligned with the electronic imager along an imaging axis of the device. An illumination system includes at least one light source for directing light towards a target of interest, as well as a display connected to the electronic imager and attached to the housing. A processor, disposed within the housing, is connected to the electronic imager, the illumination assembly and the display, and includes processing logic and data storage for storing a plurality of images.

An examination light apparatus including a touch-less control component that enables a user to control the apparatus without requiring physical contact between the user and the apparatus. The apparatus employs an LED control component that is configured to adapt its electrical interface to a variable quantity of light emitting diodes in order to interface with each of a plurality of lamp heads that each can include a unique arrangement and quantity of light emitting diodes. The light emitting diodes (LEDs) provide a high level of light quality, quantity and intensity (luminosity) while requiring low power consumption and low space and weight requirements and are employed without requiring a cooling fan. Uniform mechanical and electrical interfaces between the control component and other portions of the examination lamp provide for efficient and simple manufacturing of various examination light configurations.
