A bone anchor includes a flexible strand defining a first adjustable loop and a friction knot coupled to a proximal end of the first adjustable loop. The friction knot is configured to allow adjustment of the first adjustable loop in a first configuration and is configured to prevent adjustment of the first adjustable loop in a second configuration. A knot capsule includes a body defining an internal knot cavity. The friction knot and a portion of the first adjustable loop are positioned within the internal knot cavity. The internal knot cavity defines one or more impingement surfaces configured to maintain the friction knot in a fixed position within the internal knot cavity when the friction knot is in the second configuration.

Knotless syndesmosis system

The invention provides a particulate composition adapted for forming a bone graft substitute cement upon mixing with an aqueous solution, comprising i) a calcium sulfate hemihydrate powder, wherein the calcium sulfate hemihydrate is present at a concentration of at least about 50 weight percent based on the total weight of the particulate composition; ii) a monocalcium phosphate monohydrate powder; iii) a non-porous &#x3b2;-tricalcium phosphate powder; and iv) a porous &#x3b2;-tricalcium phosphate powder. Bone graft substitute cements made therefrom, a bone graft substitute kit comprising the particulate composition, methods of making and using the particulate composition, and articles made from the bone graft substitute cement are also provided.

Multiphasic bone graft substitute material

The invention provides a particulate composition adapted for forming a bone graft substitute cement upon mixing with an aqueous solution, including i) a calcium sulfate hemihydrate powder having a bimodal particle distribution and a median particle size of about 5 to about 20 microns, wherein the calcium sulfate hemihydrate is present at a concentration of at least about 70 weight percent based on the total weight of the particulate composition; ii) a monocalcium phosphate monohydrate powder; and iii) a &#x3b2;-tricalcium phosphate powder having a median particle size of less than about 20 microns. Bone graft substitute cements made therefrom, a bone graft substitute kit comprising the particulate composition, methods of making and using the particulate composition, and articles made from the bone graft substitute cement are also provided.

Composite bone graft substitute cement and articles produced therefrom

Bone graft substitute compositions and methods of making the compositions are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method of making a composition includes contacting a mixing solution with a first mixture having calcium sulfate hemihydrate and a plasticizing material to form a second mixture; waiting a predetermined period of time after forming said second mixture; and then contacting demineralized bone with the second mixture to form the composition. A composition can be formed from a kit including a first mixture having calcium sulfate hemihydrate and a plasticizing substance, a second mixture having demineralized bone, and a mixing solution. The first and second mixtures and the mixing solution are unblended.

Bone graft substitute composition

An injectable resorbable bone graft material, and methods of using the same, provide increased compressive strength after injection in a bone defect. The bone graft material is made from calcium sulfate hemihydrate having a thick stubby rod-like crystalline structure and low water-carrying capacity.
