A method and system may provide an automated pharmacy processing system which may automatically processes an electronic prescription by converting the electronic prescription into a pharmacy prescription record that may include exception cases. The system receives an electronic prescription and compares data from the electronic prescription with entries in one or more drug utilization rules.
