A process for oligomerizing isobutene comprises contacting a feedstock comprising isobutene with a catalyst comprising a MCM-22 family molecular sieve under conditions effective to oligomerize the isobutene, wherein said conditions including a temperature from about 45&#xb0; C. to less than 140&#xb0; C. The isobutene may be a component of a hydrocarbon feedstock containing at least one additional Calkene. In certain aspects, isobutene oligomers are separated from a first effluent of the oligomerization to produce a second effluent comprising at least one n-butene. The second effluent can be contacted with an alkylation catalyst to produce sec-butylbenzene.

Selective oligomerization of isobutene

The invention relates to polyketone compounds and the at least partially hydrogenated products thereof, the use of said polyketone compounds and/or the at least partially hydrogenated products thereof as plasticizers, processes of making polyketone compounds and the at least partially hydrogenated products thereof, compositions comprising the polyketone compounds and/or the at least partially hydrogenated products thereof, and to articles formed from products of the invention.

Polyketone plasticizers

In a process for oxidizing a hydrocarbon to the corresponding hydroperoxide, alcohol, ketone, carboxylic acid or dicarboxylic acid, a reaction medium comprising a hydrocarbon is contacted with an oxygen-containing gas in the presence of a catalyst comprising a cyclic imide of the general formula (I): wherein each of Rand Ris independently selected from hydrocarbyl and substituted hydrocarbyl radicals having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, or from the groups SOH, NH, OH and NO, or from the atoms H, F, Cl, Br and I provided that Rand Rcan be linked to one another via a covalent bond; each of Qand Qis independently selected from C, CH, N, and CR; each of X and Z is independently selected from C, S, CH, N, P and an element of Group 4 of the Periodic Table; Y is O or OH; k is 0, 1, or 2; l is 0, 1, or 2; m is 1 to 3; and Rcan be any of the entities listed for R. The contacting is conducted under conditions such as to maintain the concentration of both water and organic acids in the reaction medium below 50 ppm.

Oxidation of hydrocarbons

In a process for producing cyclohexylbenzene, benzene and hydrogen are fed to at least one reaction zone comprising a catalyst system which comprises a molecular sieve and at least one hydrogenation metal. The MCM-22 family molecular sieve having an X-ray diffraction pattern including d-spacing maxima at 12.4&#xb1;0.25, 6.9&#xb1;0.15, 3.57&#xb1;0.07 and 3.42&#xb1;0.07 Angstrom, and the hydrogenation metal is selected from the group consisting of palladium, ruthenium, nickel, zinc, tin, cobalt, and combinations of any two or more thereof. Hydroalkylation conditions of temperature and pressure are selected to produce a hydroalkylation conversion in a range of from about 15% to about 75% The benzene and hydrogen are then contacted in the at least one reaction zone under said selected hydroalkylation condition to produce an effluent containing cyclohexylbenzene.

Process for producing cyclohexylbenzene

In a process for producing phenol, cyclohexylbenzene is oxidized to produce cyclohexylbenzene hydroperoxide and then the resultant cyclohexylbenzene hydroperoxide is cleaved to produce an effluent stream comprising phenol and cyclohexanone. At least a portion of the effluent stream is then fed to at least one dehydrogenation reaction zone, where the effluent stream portion is contacted with a dehydrogenation catalyst under conditions effective to convert at least part of the cyclohexanone in the effluent portion into phenol and hydrogen.

Process for producing phenol

In a process for producing phenol and/or cyclohexanone, benzene and hydrogen are contacted with a first catalyst in a hydroalkylation step to produce a first effluent stream comprising cyclohexylbenzene, cyclohexane, and unreacted benzene. At least part of the first effluent stream is supplied to a first separation system to divide the first effluent stream part into a cyclohexylbenzene-rich stream and a C6 product stream comprising unreacted benzene and cyclohexane.

Process for producing phenol and/or cyclohexanone

Triglyceride PVC plasticizers can be produced by recovery of Cto Caldehydes having low average levels of branching from a hydroformylation product, oxidizing the aldehydes with oxygen and/or air to form an acid, recovery of the resulting acid, and esterification with glycerol. Plasticizer compositions including such products or linear triglycerides combined with a secondary plasticizer and articles made therefrom are disclosed.

In a process for producing cyclohexylbenzene, benzene and hydrogen are contacted with a catalyst under hydroalkylation conditions to produce an effluent containing cyclohexylbenzene. The catalyst comprises a composite of a molecular sieve, an inorganic oxide different from said molecular sieve and at least one hydrogenation metal, wherein at least 50 wt % of said hydrogenation metal is supported on the inorganic oxide and the inorganic oxide has an average particle size less than 40 &#x3bc;m (microns).

A process for producing sec-butylbenzene comprises feeding reactants comprising benzene and a Colefin to a distillation column reactor having a first reaction zone containing an alkylation catalyst and a second distillation zone, which is located below said first reaction zone and which is substantially free of alkylation catalyst, wherein the ratio of the number of distillation stages in said first reaction zone to the number of distillation stages in said second distillation zone is less than 1:1. Concurrently in the distillation reactor, the reactants are contacted with the alkylation catalyst in the first reaction zone under conditions such that the Colefin reacts with the benzene to produce sec-butylbenzene and the sec-butylbenzene is fractioned from the unreacted Colefin. The sec-butylbenzene thereby passes as a liquid phase stream from the first reaction zone to the second distillation zone and the liquid phase steam is withdrawn from the distillation column reactor as bottoms.

Process for producing sec-butylbenzene

In a process for producing cyclohexylbenzene, benzene and hydrogen are fed to at least one reaction zone. The benzene and hydrogen are then contacted in the at least one reaction zone under hydroalkylation conditions with a catalyst system comprising a molecular sieve having an X-ray diffraction pattern including d-spacing maxima at 12.4&#xb1;0.25, 6.9&#xb1;0.15, 3.57&#xb1;0.07 and 3.42&#xb1;0.07 Angstrom, and at least one hydrogenation metal to produce an effluent containing cyclohexylbenzene. The ratio of the total number of moles of hydrogen fed to said at least one reaction zone to the number of moles of benzene fed to said at least one reaction zone is between 0.4 and 0.9:1.

A process for producing sec-butylbenzene comprises contacting a feed comprising benzene and a Calkylating agent under alkylation conditions comprising a temperature of about 110&#xb0; C. to about 150&#xb0; C. with a catalyst comprising at least one molecular sieve having an X-ray diffraction pattern including d-spacing maxima at 12.4&#xb1;0.25, 6.9&#xb1;0.15, 3.57&#xb1;0.07 and 3.42&#xb1;0.07 Angstrom. The sec-butylbenzene can be then oxidized to produce a hydroperoxide and the hydroperoxide decomposed to produce phenol and methyl ethyl ketone.

Process for producing phenol and methyl ethyl ketone

A process for producing phenol and methyl ethyl ketone comprises contacting benzene and a Calkylating agent under alkylation conditions and in the presence of an alkylation catalyst comprising at least one molecular sieve of the MCM-22 family to produce an alkylation effluent comprising secbutylbenzene; wherein the contacting is conducted in a plurality of reaction zones and the C4 alkylating agent secbutylbenzene fraction is recovered from the alkylation effluent and comprises at least 95 wt % sec-butylbenzene, less than 100 wt ppm of C+ olefins, and less than 0.5 wt % of isobutylbenzene and tert-butylbenzene. The sec-butylbenzene fraction is then oxidized to produce sec-butylbenzene hydroperoxide and the hydroperoxide is cleaved to produce phenol and methyl ethyl ketene.

A process for producing phenol and methyl ethyl ketone comprises contacting benzene and a Colefin under alkylation conditions and in the presence of an alkylation catalyst to produce an alkylation effluent comprising sec-butylbenzene and C+ olefins. The alkylation effluent is then treated to reduce the amount of said C+ olefins and produce a treated effluent, whereafter the sec-butylbenzene in the treated effluent is oxidized to produce a hydroperoxide and the hydroperoxide is cleaved to produce phenol and methyl ethyl ketone.

A process for producing phenol and methyl ethyl ketone comprises contacting benzene with a Calkylating agent under alkylation conditions with catalyst comprising zeolite beta or a molecular sieve having an X-ray diffraction pattern including d-spacing maxima at 12.4&#xb1;0.25, 6.9&#xb1;0.15, 3.57&#xb1;0.07 and 3.42&#xb1;0.07 Angstrom to produce an alkylation effluent comprising sec-butylbenzene. The sec-butylbenzene is then oxidized to produce a hydroperoxide and the hydroperoxide is decomposed to produce phenol and methyl ethyl ketone.
