The invention provides a brake booster including in a preferred embodiment a housing, first and second annular flexible diaphragms spaced from one another forming a sealed second chamber within the housing and a sealed first chamber between the first diaphragm and the first end of the housing, a generally annular shaped power piston for connection with the master cylinder piston, a chamber valve seat separating the first and second chambers, an inlet valve slidably mounted within the power piston, and a control valve spring biased away from the power piston and connected with the pedal linkage and being slidably and sealably mounted within first end of the housing.

Pressurized air booster

A vehicle wheel and rotor assembly is provided for use with a vehicle having a disc-type brake. The assembly includes a wheel for threaded connection with an axle and a rotor. The rotor has a core section joined to an annular ring section and the core section has apertures aligned for threadably joining the rotor to the wheel. Heat pipes are embedded within said rotor core. The heat pipes provide a heat sink for the annular ring section of the rotor causing a fluid within the heat pipe to vaporize on an end of the heat pipes more adjacent to the annular ring section and to condense on an end of the heat pipe more adjacent to the wheel to transfer heat from the annular ring to the wheel.

A torque converter and clutch assembly has a piezoelectric control portion. One piezoelectric device is subjected to the transient torques transmitted to the clutch, and generates a signal in response to the transient torque. Another piezoelectric device is electrically connected with the first piezoelectric device and is expandable in response to the electric signal to initiate clutch disengagement and provide clutch slip to thereby reduce the transmission of transient torque spikes.

Air booster with pressure-balanced valve

A dynamoelectric machine has a rotor or stator which comprises a core with axial groups of flat, rectangular magnet mounting surfaces, each successive magnet mounting surface of a group being circumferentially offset by a common angle of axial rotation from the previous magnet mounting surface. A magnet is mounted on each magnet mounting surface; and each magnet has a flat surface for mounting and an opposing arcuate surface to help form a cylindrical surface. Each of the magnets has the shape, when viewed radially, of a parallelogram forming a skew angle with the axis corresponding with the rotational offset of the magnet mounting surfaces to define skewed slots between skewed magnetic poles extending the substantial axial length of the core. The core may comprise polygonal lamina with the flat polygon sides grouped to form the magnet mounting surfaces; or it may comprise circular lamina with a non-magnetic sleeve having the magnet mounting surfaces. The latter provides a larger but more even air gap.
