An injection molded component includes a plurality of integrally formed push pins that provide a simplified attachment interface for attaching the component to a vehicle structure. The injection molded component includes a base housing component with an upper and lower surfaces. Each pin extends out from the lower surface of the base housing component to a distal end. A plurality of radially extending flanges is formed about the circumference of the distal end. The flanges are spaced apart from one another and form a retention feature that is inserted into an appropriate vehicle structural component to secure the base housing component to the vehicle. The formation of flanges on the pins eliminates the need for additional injection mold tooling actions to further form the attachment interface.

Method and apparatus for attachment of air cleaner housing

A fuel rail is formed by a lost core process. The core is formed of metal, and then over-molded with plastic. The plastic over-molded metal core is immersed in a hot bath of glycolitin oil. The metal core melts, leaving the plastic overmold fuel rail. Attachment features can be formed in the fuel rail to attach fuel injectors by a snap fit connection, a threaded connection, or a twist and lock connection.

Lost core fuel rail with attachment features

The fuel rail assembly comprises a fuel conduit, at least one support connected to the conduit, an engine component body, and a resilient connector attaching the support to the engine component body. The resilient connector can be a resilient insert while the engine component body is preferably an air intake manifold. The support may also be a bracket. The fuel rail assembly further includes at least one fuel injector connected to the fuel conduit. The resilient connector, manifold, and fuel conduit are all preferably plastic.

Snap fuel rail

The vehicle engine electrical system comprises a vehicle engine component such as an air intake manifold, at least one conductor, and foam mounting the conductor to the vehicle engine component. The conductor may be connected to a connector and thereby connected to electrical components of the vehicle such as a fuel injector, sensors, or a controller. The conductor is preferably a flex cable while the foam may be plastic.
