A switchgear assembly includes a plurality of gas insulated switches arranged in at least one row and a plurality of enclosures arranged in at least one row forming at least one channel extending parallel to the at least one row of switches. The switchgear assembly further includes at least one bus assembly disposed in the at least one channel and including a plurality of interconnected bus sections having an insulating covering and electrically connected to the gas insulated switches.

Isolating bus enclosure arrangements for switchgear

A temperature measurement system includes a thermal camera configured to capture a thermal image of individuals in a viewing space of the thermal camera to detect temperatures of the individuals. A reference device is configured to present a reference temperature for detection by the thermal camera when the reference device is disposed in the viewing space of the thermal camera. The reference device is configured to maintain thermal stability in harsh or hazardous environments so that the system provides accurate and precise temperature detection of the individuals in the viewing space of the thermal camera.

A switchgear assembly includes a plurality of switches arranged in a row and a plurality of gas insulated bus assemblies arranged in a row parallel to the row of switches. The bus assemblies have gas containment enclosures with respective bus sections therein electrically connected to one another by first connectors outside of the gas containment enclosures and electrically connected to respective ones of the switches by second connectors outside of the gas containment enclosures.

An electrical enclosure apparatus includes a protective apparatus that permits forced-air cooling of the interior of the enclosure while resisting structures that are within in the interior from being blown out of the electrical enclosure as a result of an arc event or other event. The protective apparatus includes a flow apparatus formed from one or more blocks of ceramic material having foamed therein a plurality of elongated flow channels. The flow apparatus is supported inside a duct with the use of a support apparatus. The ceramic material from which the flow apparatus is formed is configured to withstand the heat that may be experienced in an arc event and is additionally configured to be sufficiently rigid and tough to retain within the duct any structures within the enclosure from being blown out of the protective apparatus, thereby protecting personnel who may be in the area.

Protective apparatus usable with a forced air cooling system and electrical enclosure

An electrical enclosure apparatus includes a protective apparatus that permits forced-air cooling of the interior of the enclosure while resisting structures that are within in the interior from being blown out of the electrical enclosure as a result of an arc event or other event. A component is for an electric power system. The component includes: a user access panel; a first element for directing visible light; a second element for directing visible light, the second end of the first element facing the second end of the second element; a movable conductor structured to move between a first position and a second position; and a stationary conductor structured to engage the movable conductor. In the first position the movable conductor is disposed between the second end of the first element and the second end of the second element, thereby blocking visible light from passing from the first element to the second element. In the second position the movable conductor is not disposed between the second end of the first element and the second end of the second element, thereby permitting visible light to pass from the first element to the second element.

Component for electric power system and method of determining whether a power circuit in an electric power system is open or closed

An inter-pole drive bar in accordance with the disclosed and claimed concept is usable to extend among a plurality of poles of an improved switch apparatus and to cause the plurality of poles to be together moved between a CLOSED position and an OPEN position. The inter-pole drive bar is elongated and has a plurality of connection points that are connectable with the poles and further includes a number of features that avoid engagement or other interference between the inter-pole drive bar and the various structures of the switch apparatus. The inter-pole drive bar includes an elongated linkage element whose movement between the CLOSED and OPEN positions of the switch apparatus are primarily translation of the linkage element in a direction generally parallel with its longitudinal extent and translation of the linkage element in a direction generally perpendicular to its longitudinal extent.

A secondary disconnect assembly is provided for a racking assembly of an electrical switching apparatus, such as a circuit breaker. The racking assembly movably couples the circuit breaker to a switchgear enclosure. The secondary disconnect assembly includes a mounting assembly having an elongated mounting member. The elongated mounting member has first and second opposing ends and first and second opposing sides. A sliding assembly is movably coupled to the first side between the first and second ends. A latching member is pivotably coupled to the sliding assembly. The latching member moves between an unlatched position corresponding to the circuit breaker being movable independently with respect to the sliding assembly, and a latched position corresponding to the latching member fixedly coupling the sliding assembly to the circuit breaker in order that the circuit breaker moves with the sliding assembly. The racking assembly may also include a position indicator.

Electrical switching apparatus, and racking assembly and secondary disconnect assembly therefor

An electrical switchgear comprises a front, a back and a switch arrangement. The switch arrangement comprises a terminal arrangement comprising an electrical contact for a bus and an electrical contact for a load connection which are spaced apart along an axial direction; and a device that is driveable into said terminal arrangement to a service position to make an electrical connection between said electrical contact for said load connection and said electrical connection for said bus. The electrical contact for said load connection is located closer to said back of said switchgear than is said electrical contact for said bus.

Electrical switchgear

An identification system is provided for an electrical system. The electrical system includes a switchgear enclosure, a number of electrical switching apparatus, and a racking mechanism movably coupling the electrical switching apparatus to the enclosure. The identification system includes a control mechanism having a controller and a plurality of software programs. The controller includes a number of inputs from a corresponding one of the electrical switching apparatus, and a number of outputs to the racking mechanism. Each software program provides functionality to the outputs to control racking movement of a predetermined type of electrical switching apparatus. Responsive to the inputs from the electrical switching apparatus, the controller identifies the predetermined type of electrical switching apparatus, and then automatically selects a corresponding one of the software programs to control movement of the electrical switching apparatus. Thus, the same controller is operational with different predetermined types of electrical switching apparatus.

Electrical system and automatic identification system therefor

A coupling is for a racking assembly for racking an electrical apparatus into and out of an enclosure with an actuator. The electrical apparatus includes a housing. The racking assembly includes a safety interlock, which is movable between a locked position, and an unlocked position corresponding to the racking assembly being operable to rack the electrical apparatus into or out of the enclosure. The coupling includes an adapter having a first portion coupled to the racking assembly, and a second portion coupled to the actuator. A sleeve is movably disposed on the adapter. The sleeve moves the safety interlock from the locked position to the unlocked position. When the safety interlock is disposed in the unlocked position, the adapter transfers movement of the actuator to the racking assembly to move the electrical apparatus.

Electrical apparatus, and racking assembly and coupling therefor

A shutter assembly is provided for an electrical system including at least one electrical switching apparatus, such as a circuit breaker, and a plurality of electrical bus members, and a plurality of electrical cable members, and a ground member with a plurality of contacts. Each of the conductors of the circuit breaker is removably coupled to a corresponding primary contact to electrically connect the circuit breaker to the electrical bus members and to electrically connect the circuit breaker to the electrical cable members and to electrically connect the circuit breaker to the ground members. The shutter assembly includes a flexible insulating member movably disposed between the conductors and the primary contacts. The flexible insulating member moves between a first position in which it provides access for the conductors to be coupled to the primary contacts, and a second position in which the flexible insulating member isolates and electrically insulates the bus member conductors from the primary contacts and the cable member conductors ('disconnected') or isolates and electrically insulates the cable member conductors from the primary contacts and the ground member ('withdrawn'). An electrical switching apparatus and an electrical system employing the shutter assembly are also disclosed.

A switch arrangement for an electrical switchgear comprising a first bus, a second bus and a load connection. The switch arrangement comprises a breaker; wherein said breaker is moveable in said switchgear between a first position and a second position, such that in use, when said breaker is in said first position and closed it electrically connects said first bus to said load connection, and when said breaker is in said second position and closed it electrically connects said second electrical bus to said load connection, with said first electrical bus disconnected from said load connection.
