An interactive map may be provided. The map may include weather information such as temperature information, precipitation information, radar information, or the like, street information such as road information, traffic information, or the like, and/or advertising information for a particular area that may be chosen by the user. The map may also display information related to points of interest such as schools, golf courses, entertainment, or the like that may be chosen by the user. The map may be dynamic such that the weather information, street information, and/or advertising information may be dynamically updated on the map.

The framework may include an application component exposes application programming interfaces (APIs) that provides installed applications access to data and services, a download component that maintains versions of the applications installed on a computing device, and a license component that tracks data use and access.

Systems and methods of enabling or disabling functionality in a web browser or browser-based application are disclosed. An example method of controlling the functionality of an application program can include: contacting a server to request content; receiving a response from the server including the requested content and a token that is a text string embedded in the response; decrypting said token; interpreting information contained in said token to determine which features of the application program are available for displaying the requested content; and invoking a level of functionality in said application program in accordance with said token to make the features for displaying the requested content available. The token can be a digital certificate based on the server's domain name or an encrypted hash of the server's domain name.

Methods and system for preventing or allowing an installer application from installing applications based on a comparison of the installer application actions to profiles and rules. The profiles and rules are established (and periodically updated) to identify a particular software installation process as undesirable and stop it from occurring. An install blocker processes the profiles and rules and compares them against what the installer is trying to do as part of its installation process. If the installer is attempting to install an application deemed undesirable, the user could then be notified, provided all of the information about what the installer was trying to do, and provided choice to allow the installation to continue.

A system and method for dynamically formulating and delivering a video program that includes perishable information is provided. The system includes a video server that creates a video program using one or more recent video segments in combination with other video segments. The recent video segments are typically generated in a studio, whereas the other video segments are obtained from a variety of sources, including databases and live feeds. An audio system stores pre-recorded audio and is used to create audio for certain video segments. The video server enables an organization to deliver more customized video programs to more users and to update those video programs more frequently without requiring additional studio time or resources.

Systems and methods for formulating and delivering video having perishable information

The invention is directed to methods for identification of users communicating with web servers by replacing or creating browser information associated with a user. In one embodiment, a local object store containing cookie values or URL data on the user's computer is accessed when a web page is rendered. The values stored in the local object store are used to recreate cookies that have been deleted from the computer's web browser or the URL data is used to identify web pages that the user has downloaded. Once recreated, the cookies may be placed back in the web browser or the URL data may be used by the web-server in targeting the user for advertisements, personalization, etc.
