A disk drive support apparatus to support at least one disk drive. The support apparatus includes a chassis and a suspension system supported on the chassis. At least one disk drive is supported on the suspension system so that the disk drive is substantially isolated from mechanical vibration and shock which can be imparted to the chassis. The invention further includes a method of supporting a disk drive in a disk array system by providing a suspension system to support the disk drive in the disk array system. The suspension system can be foam, mechanical springs, or other suspension systems which provide resilience and dampening of the disk drive to mechanical shock and vibration which can be encountered by the disk array system. The disk drives can be supported in a frame which is itself supported by the suspension system in the chassis.

Disk drive support apparatus and methods

Systems and methods for protecting electronic devices from electrostatic discharge are provided. A preferred system includes a module configured to be received by an enclosure. The module incorporates an electronic component, such as a memory device, processor, and/or circuit assembly, for example, that is configured to electrically communicate with at least a portion of the enclosure when the module is received by the enclosure. The module also includes a first contact portion that is arranged to contact the enclosure as the module is received by the enclosure. Preferably, the first contact portion is formed, at least partially, of a dissipative material. So configured, when the first contact portion engages the enclosure, an electrostatic charge of the module may be discharged in a controlled manner. Methods also are provided.

Systems with enhanced electrostatic discharge protection

Methods and apparatus for supporting a plurality of electronic, or electrical, devices include at least one elongated structural element that defines an elongated channel in which the devices can be supported. The structural element can be a singlepiece configuration. A plurality of support surfaces can be defined on the structural element, or can be defined on a support member which is mounted on the structural element. The support surfaces supportably contact each of the devices while the devices are supported on the structural element. Two or more structural elements can be connected to one another in a substantially parallel orientation to provide additional supporting capacity for additional devices. A fan can be employed to induce the flow of a stream of air through a respective structural element to facilitate cooling of the devices.

Support for electronic devices

A hinged door for a rack mounted electronic device includes a pair of hinges which use pins to retain the door on the device. A pair of removable mounting blocks permit the hinges to twist from a free portion to a locking portion so that in the locking position, the door is retained in a hinged relationship with the device. The pins include pin cylinders which, when the door is in the hinged relationship are retained by oppositely disposed receiving slots. The assembly of the door to the mounting blocks establishes a the mounting blocks in a position to mount the electronic device to the rack with the door fixed to the device.
