A device and method for delivering a device such as a sensor or fluid transport structure or a fluid transport structure sensor combination into, for example, mammalian skin. Such a device allows a sensor to penetrate mammalian skin without the use of an introducer device such as a needle. A device in accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure includes a housing for attachment to mammalian skin including an exit port for receiving the distal end of a biosensor and an injection activation device including a mechanism for forcing the sensing device from a first position within the housing, through the exit port to a second position, with sufficiently high velocity to partially penetrate the mammalian skin.

Method and apparatus for insertion of a sensor

A base element and a surge protection system incorporating the base element are provided. The base element includes a housing having a front portion and a rear portion. Apertures in the rear portion provide access to contacts secured within the housing, and a receiving portion extending from the front portion includes at least one receiving section for receiving a surge protection cartridge. Plug receptacles in the receiving portion are in electrical communication with the contacts to incorporate the surge protection device in a circuit when the surge protection cartridge is inserted. The base element is configured to mount orthogonally to a case such that conductors secured to the contacts extend through the apertures and into an enclosure defined by the case in a substantially linear direction. The system includes a case configured to be attached to a rack mount system and a plurality of base elements secured to the case.

Base element and surge protection system

The invention includes an electrified framework system having a plurality of grid members which form a grid framework. A conductive material is disposed on a surface of at least one of the plurality of grid members as shown throughout the drawings. The system includes connectors which provide low voltage power connections. For example, the connectors bring power from a power supply to the conductive material disposed on the grid framework and/or the connectors provide electrical connections between the conductive material on the grid framework and various devices.

A connector for electrical connection to an electrified grid element having first and second conductors disposed on a top portion of the grid element. In one embodiment, the connector comprises a single-piece insulator housing; a fastening means on the insulator housing for attaching the connector to a device; and first and second contacts within the insulator housing, the insulator housing configured to align the first and second contacts with the first and second conductors of the electrified grid element; wherein a base of the insulator housing comprises a recess that corresponds to the shape of the top portion of the grid element such that the housing can be mounted over the top portion of the grid member.

An analyte sensor subassembly may operate in concert with one or more sensor insertion tools to provide insertion of an analyte sensor into the skin of a subject/patient. Associated devices, such as channel guides and sensor insertion tools, are also provided, as are methods of operation and sensor insertion.

The present invention is directed to a ZIF card edge connector utilizing flexible film circuitry, where a daughter board, for example, may be electrically connected to a mother board upon which the connector is surface mounted. The connector preferably comprises an elongated housing consisting of a base, a pair of spaced apart side walls upstanding therefrom, and a pair of end walls to define the elongated slot. Placed therewithin is a U-shaped spring member where its arms upstand near the side walls. To effect opening and closing of the connector, a card release slide member is disposed within the U-shaped spring member in contact with the spring member arms, where the card release slide member is adapted to shift longitudinally to effect a lateral movement of the spring member arms. At least one release member is mounted in an end wall to effect the shifting of the card release slide member. However, a pair of cooperating slide members, one in each end wall, may be provided. Finally, a flexible film, having electrical circuitry interconnecting means thereon, is disposed in a loop between the arms of the spring member within the elongated slot, whereby a printed circuit board card, i.e., daughter board, having circuitry thereon for registration with the circuitry of the flexible film, may be inserted into the loop.

An electrical connector (1) comprises; a housing (2), a card receiving mouth (3), electrical contacts (4), prong receiving sockets (26) on the housing (2) card guide arms (5, 6), a prong (25) on each of the guide arms (5, 6) for locking engagement with any one of the sockets (26), and each of the sockets (26) lockingly engage one of the guide arms (5, 6) only with a card receiving groove (22) of one guide arm (5, 6) being oriented to face toward another guide arm (5, 6).

Mounting bracket for an electrical connector

An electrical connector assembly for providing interconnections between a plurality of contact pads (22) on a daughter board (20) and contact areas (24) on a mother board (26). The assembly includes an elongated housing (28) with a daughter board receiving cavity (38) along its longitudinal axis (30) and a plurality of contact receiving cavities (36) which are substantially planar and parallel to each other arranged at a slight angle with respect to a normal to the axis (30). The contact receiving cavities (36) intersect the board receiving cavity (38) and within each of them there is disposed a contact member (40) having a contact portion (42) and a contact leg (44) on opposite sides of the board receiving cavity (38). The contact leg (44) extends through the bottom surface (34) of the housing (28) into contact with a contact area (24) on the mother board (26). The contact members (40) alternate within the contact receiving cavities ( 36) so that insertion of a daughter board (20) causes compressive stress to be applied to the housing (28) through the contact legs (44).

Integrated circuit module connector assembly

A cable terminating cover retention system having two terminating covers (68, 70), each having leg means (72, 74) proximate the endwalls (90, 92) thereof, cooperate with an aperture (45) in a terminal support block (44) of connector housing (28). As conductors (56) are terminated on insulation displacement contacts (20) by moving the terminating covers (68, 70) toward the terminal support block (44), the leg means (72, 74) complement each other to substantially fill the aperture (45) and engage the sidewalls (102) of the apertures (45) in a first interference fit. As termination of the conductors (56) is completed, each leg means (72, 74) enters a recess or aperture (124, 126) in the other cable terminating cover (70, 68) and engages a protrusion (128, 130) therein in a second interference fit. The second interference fit is between the protrusion (128, 130) and an area (116) of the leg means (72, 74) not previously deformed by the first interference fit and retains the cable terminating covers (68, 70) in the terminated position.

Cable terminating cover retention system

An electronic key assembly comprising an insulating plug body having a front mating end for receipt in a jack and a rearwardly spaced, chip carrier receiving cavity. A series of contacts having first contact portions are mounted in body recesses at the mating end for engagement with spring contacts of a complementary jack and second spring contact portions which extend into the cavity are for engagement with respective leads of a chip carrier received therein. Releasable latch arms extend rearwardly from the mating end and, in some examples, a sleeve-form shield moulded or latched in the fingerpiece is received on the body to surround a rear end and the chip carrier. Anti-overstress hooks or eyes extending from the fingerpiece hook over the latch arms to prevent excessive movement of the latch arms away from the body. In one example, the shield includes a window having a rim surrounding the first contact portions and the fingerpiece includes a tongue which extends forwardly within the shield to a location adjacent the first contact portions partly to close the window. In another example, a grounding plate extends through a slot in the plug body into contact with a printed circuit board in the cavity.

Electronic key assemblies

An electronic key assembly (10) comprising an insulating plug body (11) having a front mating end (17) for receipt in a jack and a rearwardly spaced, chip carrier receiving cavity (19). A series of contacts (12) having first contact portions (34) are mounted in body recesses (32) at the mating end for engagement with spring contacts of a complementary jack and second spring contact portions (36) which extend into the cavity (19) are for engagement with respective leads of a chip carrier (15) received therein. Releasable latch arms (41) extend rearwardly from the mating end (17) and a sleeve-form shield (12) moulded in the fingerpiece (14) is received on the body (11) to surround a rear end and the chip carrier (15). Anti-overstress arms (64) extending from the fingerpiece (14) hook over the latch arms (41) to prevent excessive movement of the latch arms (41) away from the body (11). The shield (192) includes a window (194) having a rim (195) surrounding the first contact portions (180) and the fingerpiece (210) includes a tongue (213) which extends forwardly within the shield (192) to a location adjacent the first contact portions partly to close the window (194).
