An improved sprinkler head (2) having a hollow housing (4) has a fluid inlet (5) for admitting water into housing (2). A drain valve (40) comprises an elongated flexible nipple (34) having an open upper end (35) and a closed lower end (36) having a normally closed drain passage (42). Nipple (34) is mounted in any drain port in housing (4). Whenever fluid pressures inside housing (4) increase above a first level, nipple (34) will have its walls bowed outwardly until the drain passage (42) is opened. Preferably, drain valve (40) is part of a check valve (30) which incorporates into it the structure of nipple (34).

Sprinkler head drain valve

A stream director is disclosed adapted for mounting on a rotary sprinkler head to redirect the water stream during a segment of the rotation of the sprinkler from its intended portion of the irrigation area to another portion. A plurality of closed adjacent smoothly curved channels are employed to confine and redirect the stream emanating from the nozzle prior to its break-up whereby the spray pattern from the sprinkler is substantially as if the sprinkler were rotating through only a portion of a circular area.

Stream reversing director

A hydraulically operated retractable light fixture is disclosed particularly adapted for decorative landscape lighting applications, lighting walks and pathways, and exterior area lighting applications. A retractable hollow member carrying a light bulb is disposed to retract into a hollow body which can be buried in the ground or mounted to exterior wall or ceiling surfaces. A hydraulic line is attached to the housing for forcing the retractable member out of the housing when lighting is desired. Various modifications are shown for creating special lighting effects.
