A search apparatus includes: an array index storage in which an array index having attribute position information for specifying a position at which an attribute value is located is stored for each of one or more records out of records and for each of one or more attributes of each record; a condition accepting unit that accepts a search condition including an attribute identifier corresponding to an attribute value; a search unit that retrieves attribute position information corresponding to the attribute identifier included in the search condition, from the array index, and retrieves an attribute value corresponding to the attribute identifier included in the search condition, using the attribute position information, from a data source storage in which a data source including two or more records having two or more attribute values is stored; and a result output unit that outputs a search result including the attribute value.

A data retrieval apparatus includes a processor, and a memory. The memory stores a virtual database that analyzes a retrieval request input from a user terminal to generate a retrieval instruction, executes the generated retrieval instruction in the database to acquire two or more retrieved data, and integrates the acquired two or more retrieved data to prepare a retrieval result responding to the retrieval request.

A data retrieval apparatus includes a processor, a memory and a business intelligence circuit. The memory stores a data dictionary including presentation structure definition information for assisting input of a user terminal to issue a retrieval request compliant with a retrieval requirement, and retrieval request definition information for managing relevance between different retrieval requests. The business intelligence circuit assists input of the user terminal according to a presentation structure defined in the data dictionary to issue a retrieval request described according to the presentation structure, and outputs a retrieval result based on the retrieval request, the retrieval result being obtained from the databases, to the user terminal. The data definition information is for converting the unnormalized data structure to a logically normalized data structure. The data dictionary comprises display tables and logical items. A display table comprises a plurality of display items. Each display item corresponds to a logical item. The query statement is executed relative to the database so as to obtain a retrieval result. The obtained retrieval result is edited according to the data definition information so as to generate a final retrieval result.

Systems and methods for retrieving data

In a data retrieving apparatus, a data dictionary is constructed so as to include definition information concerning tables, items and calculation syntax for representing an unnormalized data structure as a logically normalized data structure. A retrieval request designation control section interactively accepts a retrieval request from a user according to the data dictionary. A retrieval request translation processing section translates the retrieval request to a query statement, which a database can execute, according to the data dictionary. The query statement is executed in a database retrieval processing section so that retrieval data is obtained. A data integration processing section integrates or aggregates the retrieval data according to the data dictionary so that final result data corresponding to the retrieval request is generated. A result data output processing section presents the final result data to the user.
