A compact banknote dispensing device including a storage section for storing one or more banknotes, a discharging unit driven by a first motor for discharging banknotes one-by-one at a first speed, and a transporting unit driven by a second motor for receiving the discharged banknotes from the discharging unit and transporting the discharged banknotes at a second speed where the second speed is faster than the first speed, the one-way clutch permitting the discharged banknote to be continuously drawn at the second speed without damaging the discharged banknote. The compact banknote dispensing device includes a length sensor disposed about a U-shaped guiding unit and connected to a control unit. The control unit determines whether the transported banknote is acceptable for dispensing and is transported properly. The compact banknote dispensing device turns off the motors in an error condition and sounds an audible alarm.

A duplicate let off prevention device for sheets includes a first exit guide, a second exit guide which is spaced from the first exit guide at a distance that is larger than the thickness of one sheet and is smaller than the thickness of two sheets, and a pre-exit guide which is movably located adjacent a sheet storing device. Stacked sheets are segregated in a wedge-like configuration as they contact the respective guides. A stopper can stop the sheets when the pre-exit guide moves. The pre-exit guide is biased to exert a force to assist in the segregation of the sheets.

Compact bank note dispensing device to prevent duplication releases

A bank note dispensing device includes a storage unit which can store bank notes that can be dispensed to a user through a discharge opening. A monitor unit can be operatively positioned relative to a passageway for transporting the bank notes in order to determine any abnormal conditions, such as accidental discharge of duplicate bank notes. A diverting unit can be operatively connected to the monitoring unit to remove a bank note from the passageway when the monitoring unit indicates an abnormal condition. A second diverting unit can be activated to position a removed bank note in a reject storage container. A recycle unit can receive an abnormal designated bank note and provide a second passageway to return the abnormal designated bank note to a position for subsequent transportation by the transporting unit through the discharge opening.

An automatic adjusting device for a bank note holding member is provided. The bank note holding member can be inserted into a safe for the dispensing of bank notes. The holding member can have relatively movable side and end walls which can automatically and mechanically adjust to the particular size of the stack of bank notes that are inserted therein. When the bank note holding member is removed, the walls can be automatically extended to open the space to receive bank notes. When the bank note holding member is inserted into a safe, the respective walls can close on the stack of bank notes and assert a predetermined force to align the bank notes stored therein.

An automatic bank note pushing device is movably mounted for extending into and out of a bank note storing holder that in turn is slidably mounted in a bank note storing device or safe. The pushing member can retract from the bank note storing holder when the lid is open to enable the bank note storing holder to be slid out. The pushing member can be activated to extend into the bank note storing holder to bias a stack of bank notes to a discharge position when the lid is closed.

A banknote release and storage apparatus is provided for both discharging banknotes from a safe and for re-inserting a banknote through the same discharge opening back into the safe. A stacked array of banknotes can have the lower-most banknote discharged through an opening for dispensing to a user. Conversely, a banknote returned to the same discharge opening can be re-inserted when a lifting unit lifts one end of the stacked array of banknotes to create a receptive storage space and a let-off device is driven in a reverse direction for drawing the banknote back into the storage unit.

An efficient and relatively easily manufactured sorting device for separating duplicated banknotes includes a resistant guide unit for initially contacting the banknotes and a rotatable driving unit having a higher friction surface that is positioned downstream of the resistant guide unit for subsequently pulling the banknote from the resistance guide unit whereby a duplicated banknote will be separated. The sorting device can be installed in a dispensing device for storing banknotes and can be positioned in a recycle passageway wherein banknotes can be aligned by an arraying device prior to submission to the sorting device. The resistance guide unit can include a pair of eccentrically mounted fixed curved surface members. A second rotatable roller can be in contact with the rotatable driving roller to form a nipping section downstream of the initial banknote contact with the resistance guide unit.
