An occupant protection apparatus includes a driver. The driver includes a drive unit, a support shaft, a movable seat pan supported by the support shaft such that the movable seat pan is inclinable in a front-rear direction, a guide groove, a movement pin that is movable along the guide groove, a link that couples the movable seat pan to the movement pin, and an energy absorber. The guide groove includes a first guide groove portion in which the movement pin moves when the movable seat pan is inclined rearward and a second guide groove portion in which the movement pin moves when the movable seat pan is inclined forward. The energy absorber is configured to absorb at least part of a forward load from an occupant when the movement pin moves in the second guide groove portion.

Occupant protection apparatus

An actuator includes a housing section that houses a driving source and is mountable on a first mounting region and a deploying section that is mountable on a second mounting region and deployable with a driving force of the driving source. The housing section includes a case of metal and a securing member supporting the driving source and secured to the case inside the case. A mounting hole is formed through the case and securing member for receiving a pivot member connected to the first mounting region. A fixing hole is formed through the case and the securing member at a different position from the mounting hole for receiving a fixing member that fixes the securing member to the case. An inner circumferential plane of the mounting hole of the case is in contact with the pivot member on the region disposed towards a deploying direction of the deploying section.

Actuator

A vehicle pop-up hood device actuator includes a main body section; a cylinder that covers a portion on one axial direction side of the main body section, that is moved toward the one axial direction side of the main body section by generated gas to lift a hood of a vehicle to a lifted position, and that is configured so as to be capable of moving to a retention position; a sealing member that is formed in a ring shape and that forms a seal between the main body section and a general face; a retention member that abuts on an inner peripheral face of the cylinder and retains the cylinder at the retention position; and an enlarged diameter face that is disposed at a radial direction outer side of the main body section with respect to the sealing member at the lifted position.

Vehicle pop-up hood device actuator and vehicle pop-up hood device

An actuator includes a gas generator that generates an actuating gas when actuated, a housing section that houses the gas generator and a pressing section that is deployable with an actuating gas in such a fashion as to move forward relative to the housing section. The pressing section and the housing section are slidable against each other. Either one out of sliding portions of the pressing section and housing section serves as an inner section that is located closer to a central axis of the pressing section than the other whereas the other out of the sliding portions of the pressing section and housing section serves as an outer section that surrounds the inner section. The gas generator is located closer to the central axis than the sliding portion of the pressing section and partially overlaps with a part of the pressing section in an inactive state.
