A liquid foam system and process for treating an aqueous medium volume includes foam breaking equipment for treating foam floating on a liquid medium. The foam breaking equipment includes a foam conveyer, a rotatable driven screw for sucking foam present in the foam conveyor and for causing at least a partial defoaming of the foam and for expelling foam out of the foam conveyor, and an exhaust gas tube for removing gas within the foam conveyor released from the foam during defoaming. The foam breaking equipment may be used in conjunction with a first tank having a liquid medium and the process includes conveying foam downwardly into the foam conveyor and at least partially defoaming the conveyed foam.

Liquid&#x2014;foam system

The invention describes a device for treating liquids, in particular waste water, it being possible for the device both to aerate and mix the water. This device includes an aerator and includes a structure to which an independently working mixer is attached. The assembly may be attached to a float or be suspended above the liquid. Preferably, the mixer will be displaceably attached to the structure. The structure may be attached to the aerator or to the float.

Mixer/aerator for waste water

Apparatus for mixing air with liquid, an aerator or oxygenator, comprises a motor or other power drive generally mounted in vertical position on a floating or a fixed structure, the motor having a shaft extending downwards through an opening in the center area of the float or fixed structure and bearing on its lower part a screw pump portion located in a cylindrical volute section just below the water level. When the apparatus is operating, the waste-water is sucked by means of the screw pump from the bottom of the body of liquid at which the apparatus is positioned and is pushed upwards in order to be diffused by means of a centrifugal impeller having outwardly curved blades, at least one of which extends downward to merge with a spiral shaped portion of a blade on the screw pump. Increased efficiency of the apparatus as an aerator is achieved, allowing the exit velocity from the centrifugal impeller to be approximately equal to, or even greater than, the upward velocity through the screw pump portion, by increasing the kinetic energy of the fluid during passage through the centrifugal impeller or at least minimizing losses of kinetic energy. The resulting high exit velocity from the centrifugal impeller produces higher aerator efficiencies than have been achievable with prior art devices.

Apparatus for mixing gas and liquid

Apparatus for mixing air with liquid (aerator or oxygenator) comprises a motor or other power drive generally mounted in vertical position on a float or a fixed structure, the motor having a shaft extending downwards through an opening in the center area of the float or fixed structure and bearing on its lower part a propeller located in a cylindrical volute section just underneath the waterlevel. When the apparatus is operating, the waste-water is sucked by means of the propeller from the bottom of the body of liquid on which the apparatus is floating and pushed upwards in order to be diffused by means of a rotating diffusion head in the shape of a paddle-wheel. This feature increases efficiency of the installation, allowing the velocity of the fluid leaving the propeller to be kept as low as possible and the dimensions of intake volute and propeller to be increased.
