A vaporizer having first and second substantially parallel electrodes with upper ends connected to a voltage source and free lower ends projecting into a boiler chamber; a compartment defining the boiler chamber and enclosing the electrodes; and a locator mechanism disposed in the compartment and arranged to engage and position lower ends of the first and second electrodes, the locator mechanism including a plurality of guide surfaces inclined with respect to the first and second electrodes and arranged to engage and guide movement of the lower ends thereof into the compartment.

An environmental conditioning apparatus including a control unit for conditioning a surrounding environment; a housing retaining the conditioning unit and comprising a flange defining an opening, the flange having inner and outer flange edge portions separated by oppositely directed front and rear flange surface portions; and a grill covering the opening and comprising a rim juxtaposed to the flange, the rim having inner and outer rim edge portions separated by oppositely directed front and rear rim surface portions and the rear rim surface portion facing the front flange surface portion. Also included are a plurality of fastening elements securing the rim to the flange; each of the elements being U-shaped and having an inner leg portion extending over the inner rim and flange edge portions, an outer leg portion extending over the outer rim and flange edge portions, a web portion joining the inner and outer leg portions and engaging either the front rim surface portion or the rear flange surface portion, and a latch portion terminating one of the leg portions and engaging the other front rim surface portion or rear flange surface portion not engaged by the web portion. The invention also includes a bias exerting a separating force between each of the fastening elements and either the flange or the rim.

An evaporator including a housing defining an air inlet, an air outlet, and a reservoir for a liquid supply; a blower for producing air flow in a path between the inlet and the outlet; a vessel retained by the housing above the reservoir and adapted to retain a liquid volume; a wick means retained by the vessel and comprising a source portion submerged in the liquid volume and an evaporative portion disposed in the air flow path, the wick means adapted to provide by capillary action liquid flow from the source portion to the evaporative portion; and a pump means for pumping liquid from the reservoir to the vessel so as to maintain the liquid volume therein. The output capacity of the evaporator is increased by pumping liquid from a reservoir upwardly to a supply vessel.

Evaporator apparatus

A humidifier including a base defining a reservoir for retaining a liquid volume; an electrically energized humidification mechanism for inducing dispersion of liquid contained by said reservoir; an electrical supply for supplying electrical energy to the humidification mechanism; an electrical switch coupled between the supply and the humidification mechanism and having active and inactive states, the switch adapted in its active state to allow the supply of electrical energy to the humidification mechanism and adapted in its inactive state to prevent the supply of electrical energy thereto; and an operator coupled to the electrical switch and adapted for movement between active and inactive positions, the operator adapted in its active position to induce the active state of the electrical switch and in its inactive position to induce the inactive state thereof. Also included is a float disposed in the reservoir and adapted for movement in response to changes in the level of liquid therein, the float comprising an actuator portion for inducing movement of the operator and having a cross-section of given shape; and a barrier wall limiting access to the electrical switch and defining an opening conforming to the given shape, the opening receiving the actuator portion and accommodating movement thereof. The barrier wall prevents tampering operations with the electrical switch.

Also included are a plurality of fastening elements securing the rim to the flange; each of the elements being U-shaped and having an inner leg portion extending over the inner rim and flange edge portions, an outer leg portion extending over the outer rim and flange edge portions, a web portion joining the inner and outer leg portions and engaging either the front rim surface portion or the rear flange surface portion, and a latch portion terminating one of the leg portions and engaging the other front rim surface portion or rear flange surface portion not engaged by the web portion. The fastening elements facilitate assembly and disassembly of the grill.
