A urinary catheter has a tube having a proximal section that is insertable into a urethra and a distal section having a connector secured to a distal end of the tube. A lumen is formed longitudinally in the tube and a hydrophilic coating applied to an exterior surface of the tube. The proximal section of the tube includes a proximal tip end that is closed to terminate the lumen at the proximal tip end, with the proximal tip end rounded for insertion of the proximal tip end through the urethra and into a bladder. The proximal section of the tube is conical such that a first outer diameter of the proximal section of the tube measured at the proximal tip end is smaller than a second outer diameter of the proximal section of the tube measured distal from the proximal tip end.

Urinary catheter having a conical proximal section

A urinary catheter includes a tube and a tip. The tube has a tube wall defining a lumen extending between a distal tube end and a proximal tube end, with an opening formed in the tube wall. The tip extends from the proximal tube end to a closed proximal tip end. An inside diameter of the lumen increases constantly along an entire length of the tube from a first inside diameter measured at the proximal tube end to a second inside diameter measured at the distal tube end, where the first inside diameter is smaller than the second inside diameter such that the lumen is formed in a conical shape that diverges from the proximal tube end to a wider cross-sectional opening at the distal tube end.

Urinary catheter

A method of injection molding a catheter assembly, the method comprising providing a mold having an elongated cavity in the form of an external surface of the catheter assembly, providing a core pin in the longitudinal axis of the catheter assembly inside the cavity in the form of an inner lumen of the catheter assembly, where the core pin has a distal end that is fixed in place and a proximal free end, providing a first and a second molding member where each one of the first and the second molding members has a fixed end and a free end, in a radial direction of the elongated cavity, preparing the mold by arranging the free ends of the two molding members to support the core pin, injecting a liquid catheter material into the mold, letting the liquid material solidify.

Injection moulding catheter

A catheter comprising a tube part, a tip part and at least one through-going opening, where the through-going opening is positioned distally to the proximal end of the tube part, wherein the outer surface of the tube part has at its proximal end a first outer diameter that is smaller than a second outer diameter at the tube part's distal end, and the diameter of the outer surface of the tube part increases constantly along the entire length of the tube part from its proximal first outer diameter end to its distal second outer diameter.
