Present disclosure relates to a method for managing a docking device and the docking device thereof. The docking device is configured with a processor and at least two coupling ports. The method comprises following steps: electrically coupling a computer and/or at least one peripheral device to the at least two coupling ports respectively; retrieving a plurality of characteristic profiles by the processor, wherein each of the characteristic profiles is retrieved from each of the at least two coupling ports; receiving, by the processor, an input signal from the computer or the at least one peripheral device; and changing the characteristic profiles based on the input signal by the processor.

Method for managing docking device and docking device

A power management method is disclosed. The power management method comprises the step of a computer system checking existence of a manufacturing identifier (ID) of a human interface device (HID) when the computer system is operated in a first mode; the computer system continuously detecting whether the HID exist when the manufacturing ID exists; the computer system starting a timer when the computer system detects that the HID does not exist; the computer system entering a second mode when the timer expires; the HID determining whether the computer system is operated in the second mode, when plugged into the computer system; the HID performing state transition on the computer system when determining that the computer system is in the second mode; and the computer system entering the first mode when detecting the state transition.

Power management method for switching power mode of a computer system based on detection of a human interface device

A computer has a USB bus with at least two USB connectors for removable USB devices. When a removable USB device is connected to at least one of the connectors, conventional standard actions are auto-launched. However, when a removable USB device is connected to at least one special USB connector, no action is auto-launched, or some non-standard action is auto-launched. The special USB connector is designated as such by a configuration file stored by the computer, because neither the USB address and port number of the hub for the special connector, nor the USB address allocated to the removable USB device can simply be used for this purpose.
