Remedial methods of controlling particulates within a subterranean formation comprising first, placing a resin composition into an unconsolidated zone of a subterranean formation; and second, placing an aqueous tackifying treatment fluid that comprises an aqueous tackifying agent into the unconsolidated zone. The resin may be curable or noncurable. The aqueous tackifying agent is selected from the group consisting of: a charged polymer; an acrylic acid polymer; an acrylic acid ester polymer; an acrylic acid homopolymer; an acrylic acid ester homopolymer; poly(methyl acrylate); poly(butyl acrylate); poly(2-ethylhexyl acrylate); an acrylic acid ester co-polymer; a methacrylic acid derivative polymer; a methacrylic acid homopolymer; a methacrylic acid ester homopolymer; poly(methyl methacrylate); poly(butyl methacrylate); poly(2-ethylhexyl methacrylate); an acrylamido-methyl-propane sulfonate polymer; an acrylamido-methyl-propane sulfonate derivative polymer; an acrylamido-methyl-propane sulfonate co-polymer; an acrylic acid/acrylamido-methyl-propane sulfonate co-polymer; and any combination thereof.

Methods and compositions for controlling formation fines and reducing proppant flow-back

A traceable treatment composition for treating a subterranean formation having multiple zones penetrated by a well bore comprising a homogenous blend of a tracking composition and a resin composition. The tracking composition comprises a substantially non-radioactive tracking material selected from the group consisting of a metal salt. The metal portion of the metal salt may be selected from the group consisting of gold, silver, lithium, molybdenum, and vanadium. The metal salt may also be selected from the group consisting of: barium bromide, barium iodide, beryllium fluoride, beryllium bromide, beryllium chloride, cadmium bromide, cadmium iodide, chromium bromide, chromium chloride, chromium iodide, cesium bromide, cesium chloride, sodium bromide, sodium iodide, sodium nitrate, sodium nitrite, potassium iodide, potassium nitrate, manganese bromide, zinc bromide, zinc iodide, sodium monofluoroacetate, sodium trifluoroacetate, sodium 3-fluoropropionate, potassium monofluoroacetate, potassium trifluoroacetate, and potassium 3-fluoropropionate.

Methods and compositions that include a resin composition having from about 5% to about 30% phenol, from about 40% to about 70% phenol formaldehyde, from about 10 to about 40% furfuryl alcohol, from about 0.1% to about 3% of a silane coupling agent, and from about 1% to about 15% of a surfactant and methods of using of that resin in controlling particulate flowback from a subterranean formation.

A method of treating a subterranean formation, comprising: at least partially coating particulates with a first layer of a first curable resin and allowing the first curable resin to substantially cure; and then, at least partially coating the particulates with a second layer of a second curable resin; and allowing the second layer of the second curable resin to substantially cure; and then, slurrying the coated particulates into a treatment fluid and placing the slurry into a subterranean formation. Improved particulates suitable for use in subterranean formations, comprising low-quality particulates that have been at least partially coated with a first layer of a first curable resin and then at least partially coated with a second layer of a second curable resin and wherein the first layer of the first curable resin is allowed to substantially cure before the application of the second layer of the second curable resin.

Low-quality particulates and methods of making and using improved low-quality particulates

Methods are provided for stabilizing a portion of a subterranean formation or reducing the production of particulates from a portion of a subterranean formation comprising contacting the portion of the subterranean formation with a pre-flush fluid; contacting the portion of the subterranean formation with a consolidation fluid comprising a resin and an aqueous dissolvable solvent; and, contacting the portion of the subterranean formation with an after-flush fluid. Other methods are provided for fracturing a portion of a subterranean formation while controlling particulates comprising contacting the portion of the subterranean formation with a pre-flush fluid; contacting the portion of the subterranean formation with a consolidation fluid comprising a resin and an aqueous dissolvable solvent; and, contacting the portion of the subterranean formation with a fracturing fluid at a pressure sufficient to create or enhance a fracture in the subterranean formation.

Methods for controlling particulate migration

Methods of controlling particulate migration in a portion of a subterranean formation comprising placing a pre-flush fluid into the portion of the subterranean formation; and then, placing a low-viscosity adhesive substance diluted with an aqueous dissolvable solvent into the portion of the subterranean formation; wherein the portion of a subterranean formation being treated has a regain permeability of at least about 70%. Methods of creating a stabilized region around a portion of a subterranean formation around a well bore having a screen or liner in place in that portion of the subterranean formation comprising placing a pre-flush fluid into the portion of the subterranean formation; and then, placing a low-viscosity adhesive substance diluted with an aqueous dissolvable solvent into that portion of the subterranean formation; wherein the portion of a subterranean formation being treated has regain permeability of at least about 70%.

Methods for controlling migration of particulates in a subterranean formation

Methods comprising: providing at least a plurality of liquid hardenable resin coated particulates that have been at least partially coated with a liquid hardenable resin component; providing at least a plurality of liquid hardening agent coated particulates that have been at least partially coated with a liquid hardening agent component; suspending the liquid hardenable resin coated particulates and the liquid hardening agent coated particulates in a treatment fluid; and placing the treatment fluid into a subterranean formation. Methods comprising: providing at least a plurality of coated particulates that have been at least partially coated with one component of a two component resin system; coating at least a plurality of the coated particulates on a job site with a second component of a two component resin system; suspending the coated particulates in a treatment fluid; and placing the treatment fluid into a subterranean formation.

Methods of coating particulates

A method of consolidating a proppant particulates comprising substantially coating proppant particulates with an integrated consolidation fluid comprising a hardening agent that itself comprises a piperazine, a derivative of piperazine, or a combination thereof; placing the coated proppant particulates into a portion of a subterranean formation; and, allowing the integrated consolidation fluid to substantially cure. A method of stabilizing a portion of a subterranean formation comprising applying a preflush solution to the subterranean formation; applying an integrated consolidation fluid to the subterranean formation, wherein the integrated consolidation fluid comprises a hardening agent component itself comprising a piperazine, a derivative of piperazine, or a combination thereof; and, allowing the integrated consolidation fluid to substantially cure. An integrated consolidation fluid capable of consolidating a subterranean formation comprising a hardenable resin component and a hardening agent component itself comprising a piperazine, a derivative of piperazine, or a combination thereof.

Compositions and methods for particulate consolidation

Many methods are provided including methods of stabilizing a portion of a subterranean formation or reducing the production of particulates from a portion of a subterranean formation comprising contacting the portion of the subterranean formation with a pre-flush fluid; contacting the portion of the subterranean formation with a consolidation fluid comprising a resin and an aqueous dissolvable solvent; and, contacting the portion of the subterranean formation with an after-flush fluid. Also provided are methods of fracturing a portion of a subterranean formation while controlling particulates comprising contacting the portion of the subterranean formation with a pre-flush fluid; contacting the portion of the subterranean formation with a consolidation fluid comprising a resin and an aqueous dissolvable solvent; and, contacting the portion of the subterranean formation with a fracturing fluid at a pressure sufficient to create or enhance a fracture in the subterranean formation.

A method of propping at least one fracture in a subterranean formation, that comprises forming a plurality of proppant aggregates, each proppant aggregate comprising a binding fluid and a filler material, and introducing the plurality of proppant aggregates into the at least one fracture, is provided. Methods of fracturing a subterranean formation also are provided.

Methods of hydraulic fracturing and of propping fractures in subterranean formations

Improved methods and compositions for consolidating proppant in subterranean fractures are provided. In certain embodiments, the hardenable resin compositions may be especially suited for consolidating proppant in subterranean fractures having temperatures above about 200&#xb0; F. Improved methods include providing proppant particles coated with a hardenable resin composition mixed with a gelled liquid fracturing fluid, and introducing the fracturing fluid into a subterranean zone. The fracturing fluid may form one or more fractures in the subterranean zone and deposit the proppant particles coated with the resin composition therein. Thereafter, the hardenable resin composition on the proppant particles is allowed to harden by heat and to consolidate the proppant particles into degradation resistant permeable packs. The hardenable resin composition may include a liquid bisphenol A-epichlorohydrin resin, a 4,4'-diaminodiphenyl sulfone hardening agent, a solvent, a silane coupling agent, and a surfactant. The solvent may include diethylene glycol monomethyl ether or dimethyl sulfoxide.

Methods and compositions for consolidating proppant in fractures

The present invention relates to methods and compositions for removing resin coatings. More particularly, the present invention relates to methods and compositions for removing coatings comprising epoxy and/or furan. Some embodiments of the methods of the present invention comprise removing a resin coating from a surface comprising the step of applying to the surface a cleaning solution comprising: a pH-adjusting agent, a solvent, and water. Other embodiments of the present invention comprise cleaning solutions comprising a pH-adjusting agent, a solvent, and water wherein the cleaning solution is suitable for use in cleaning a resin from a surface.

Methods and compositions for removing resin coatings

Methods of stabilizing subterranean formations and methods of reducing the production of particulates from subterranean formations are provided, which are useful in conjunction with subterranean formations surrounding wellbores and fractures. The methods comprise the steps of applying to a subterranean formation a combination aqueous liquid and surfactant preflush solution, an integrated consolidation fluid and an afterflush fluid and then waiting a chosen period of time.

Methods and compositions for stabilizing unconsolidated subterranean formations

Methods of consolidating subterranean zones and hardenable resin compositions are provided. A hardenable resin composition of the invention basically comprises a furan liquid resin mixture comprising a 2-furanmethanol homopolymer and furfuryl alcohol, an organosilane coupling agent and an acid catalyst.
