A fire barrier operable to be placed within a gap formed between two surfaces. The fire barrier may generally include a first intumescent section, a first foam section coupled with the first intumescent section, and a second intumescent section coupled with the first foam section generally opposite the first intumescent section. In some embodiments, the fire barrier may include a plurality of intumescent sections and a plurality of foam sections with each foam section being positioned between at least two of the intumescent sections.

Fire barrier

A fire resistive joint cover system operable to span a gap between two surfaces. The system generally may include first and second base members, a covering member, and an intumescent sheet. Each base member is operable to couple with one of the surfaces and the covering member is operable to couple with the base members to at least partially span the gap. In some embodiments, the covering member may be configured as a floating covering member and/or as a flexible elastomer seal.

Fire resistive joint cover system

A joint cover system is operable to span a gap between two building members, wherein each building member including a first side surface and an end surface. The joint cover system comprises a first base member, a second base member, an intumescent sheet, a first fastener, and a second fastener. The first base member may be positioned on the first side surface of the first building member, and the second base member may be positioned on the first side surface of the second building member. The intumescent sheet may include a first edge positioned between the first base member and the first side surface of the first building member and a second edge positioned between the second base member and the first side surface of the second building member. The first fastener may penetrate the first base member and the first edge of the intumescent sheet. The second fastener may penetrate the second base member and the second edge of the intumescent sheet.

An expansion joint cover () comprises a first plate () hingedly attached to a first surface () of an expansion joint (), a second plate () hingedly attached to the first plate (), and a housing () fixedly secured to a second surface () of the expansion joint (). During installation, a front plate () of the housing () can rotate about a hinge () to allow the second plate () to be installed within the housing (). In use, the second plate () slides within the housing () to accommodate variations in separation distance and vertical offset between the two surfaces (). Two hinges () accommodate variations in torsion between the two surfaces (). The combination of the second plate () sliding within the housing () and the two hinges () accommodates variations in lateral offset between the two surfaces ().

Expansion joint cover

A fire barrier transition () comprises a first section () to mate with a first fire barrier () in a first expansion joint (), a second section () to mate with a second fire barrier () in a second expansion joint (), and a center section () therebetween to seal a gap () between the barriers (). The first section () and the second section () each present either a convex or a concave cross-section with two sidewalls () and a bight section () therebetween. Thus, the transition () preferably presents a specific shape with the first section () and the second section () each presenting channels aligned at an angle between the joints (). The barriers () can slide between the sidewalls () and engage the bight sections (), thereby mating with and sealing to the first section () and the second section ().

An expansion joint cover ( ) comprises a first plate ( ) hingedly attached to a first surface ( ) of an expansion joint ( ), a second plate ( ) hingedly attached to the first plate ( ), and a housing ( ) fixedly secured to a second surface ( ) of the expansion joint ( ). During installation, a front plate ( ) of the housing ( ) can rotate about a hinge ( ) to allow the second plate ( ) to be installed within the housing ( ). In use, the second plate ( ) slides within the housing ( ) to accommodate variations in separation distance and vertical offset between the two surfaces ( ). Two hinges ( ) accommodate variations in torsion between the two surfaces ( ). The combination of the second plate ( ) sliding within the housing ( ) and the two hinges ( ) accommodates variations in lateral offset between the two surfaces ( ).

An expansion joint cover apparatus (10) includes a cover plate (38) in covering relationship with the gap (12) between building sections(14,16). One edge (46) of the plate (38) is coupled to one building section (14) and the opposed edge (48) is slidably received in a recess (30) defined in the second building section (16) adjacent the gap (12). The second building section (16) includes a recess wall (34) between the recess (30) and the adjacent support surface (28). The apparatus (10) further includes a transition insert (44) mounted in the recess (30) against the recess wall (34). The insert (44) presents an insert wall (66) to provide a beveled transition between the recess area (30) and the support surface (28) in order to guide the plate edge (48) therebetween during relative movement between the building sections (14,16) and to protect the recess wall (34) from impact by the second edge (48) of the plate (38) during such movement.

Parking garage expansion joint cover

An expansion joint cover apparatus (10) includes a cover plate (38) in covering relationship with the gap (12) between building sections(14,16). A coupling assembly couples the first edge (46) of the plate (38) to the first building section (14) and the opposed edge (48) is slidably received in a recess (30) defined in the second building section (16) adjacent the gap (12). The coupling assembly includes a bracket having a web and a pair of spaced flanges is configured to mount to the wall face adjacent the gap of the first building section, and a bolt extending through the plate and the flanges in order to couple the plate to the first building section.

Retrofit parking garage expansion joint cover

A preferred foot traffic grid has a plurality of grid sections including an initial grid section, a terminating grid section, and a plurality of intermediate grid sections therebetween. Adjacent grid sections are coupled using a pair of spaced connectors received in corresponding channels in the adjacent connector. The channels and connectors are positioned on opposed sides of a support leg.
