A carton blank has a generally half-circular line of perforation extending in the outer top panel and an end panel joined to the outer top panel at a hinge line. The line of perforation has a reduced radius portion which forms a lip in the assembled carton which acts as a closure for the spout. The end panel has an outside free edge not aligned with the main panel top edge so as to expose a portion of the inner top panel thereby allowing for joinder of the inner and outer top panels with fewer glue lines.

A product sleeve for holding (typically) four products, such as bottles, has a protuberance between pairs of products to assist in holding the products in portion within the sleeve. The protuberances are formed by tabs hinged to one end panel of the product sleeve blank. These tabs have a notch and at least one further hinge line. These tabs may be pushed through openings in the other end panel of the blank so that they fold about their hinge lines to form the noted protuberances and the notch in the tabs lock to a portion of the other end panel.

An interlocking carton and lid combination is disclosed for storage of ice cream, frozen yogurt and the like. The interlocking combination includes a rectangular container provided with flaps integrally formed therewith and attached along a crease inwardly into the container and glued along a strip portion to the side walls. A slot is provided in each of two opposed sides on the exterior thereof, the slots formed in the side wall between the crease and the glue strip adhesively coupling the flap to the side wall. This positioning of the slot with respect to the crease and glue strip causes the unglued portion of the flap to bow outwardly. A lid having a central portion has transversely extending flanges integrally formed and attached to the peripheral edges of the central portion. The flanges include an outer side and an inner flap portion connected along a crease. Two opposed flanges have slots located in the respective flap portions and the flaps are glued to the respective outer sides along a strip portion located between the slot and the edge of the flange spaced from the crease. This configuration causes the unglued portion of the flap between the crease and the slot to bow outwardly. The lid is receivable on the container wherein the lid slots interfere with the container side slits.

Interlocking carton and lid

An interlocking carton and lid combination is disclosed for storage of ice cream, frozen yogurt and the like. The interlocking combination includes a rectangular container provided with flaps integrally formed therewith and attached along the upper edges of the container sides. The flaps are folded along a crease inwardly into the container and glued along a strip portion to the side walls. A slit is provided in each of two opposed sides on the exterior thereof, the slits being formed in the side walls at a position adjacent the flaps and located below the crease and above the glue strip adhesively coupling the flap to the side wall. This positioning of the slit with respect to the crease and glue strip cause the unglued portion of the flap to bow outwardly. A lid having a central portion is provided with transversely extending flanges attached along the peripheral edges of the central portion and integrally formed therewith. The flanges include an outer side and an inner flap portion connected along a crease. Two opposed flanges have slits located in the respective flap portions and the flaps are glued to the respective outer sides along a strip portion located between the slit and the edge of the flange spaced from the crease. This configuration causes the unglued portion of the flap between the crease and the slit to bow outwardly. The lid is receivable on the container wherein the lid slits interfere with the container side slits.

A carton of the type having; first and second main panels and first and second side panels which are connected to one another so as to articulate between a knocked-down compact configuration and an open sleeve configuration. First and second main flaps hingedly are connected to the first and second main panels respectively and first and second side flaps hingedly connected to the first and second side panels respectively. Each of the flaps has a proximal end adjacent and a distal end remote from its associated main or side panel. Pour spout sub-panels are initially formed as integral parts of adjacent first main and first side flaps and are severable from the remainder of the adjacent first main and first side flaps respectively to form a pour spout in use. The adjacent first main and first side flaps each have marginal edge portions located at their distal end outwardly from the pour spout sub-panels with respect to their associatd first main and first side panels respectively. The marginal edge portions being secured to one another in a face-to-face relationship so as to cause the side flap to buckle inwardly upon itself to draw the first main flap toward an outwardly overlying relationship with respect to the first side flap as the carton moves from the knocked-down configuration to the open sleeve configuration to facilitate the closing of a first end of the carton in use.

A divider panel assembly for a carton which has a handle panel and an anchor panel which are interconnected by tear bars is cut to form the tear bars in a manner which will maintain the strength of the handle panel while facilitating the separation of the handle panel and the anchor panel. The joint between the handle panel and the anchor panel is formed by providing a plurality of cuts at the connection between the handle panel and the anchor panel. Each joint has first, second and third cuts which are arranged to form tear bars therebetween which are of a greater length than the tear bars previously known so as to facilitate the initial movement of the handle with respect to the anchor panel and the ease with which the tear bars may ultimately be torn. All of the cuts which form the joining means extend in or below the severance plane.

Severable connection between a handle and a divider panel of a carton

A paperboard lid having first and second weakened score lines formed in the upper and lower faces thereof respectively. The score lines extend obliquely across the lid at a corner to form a frangible corner panel. The first score line is located between the corner and the second score line. A third weakened score line extends inwardly from the corner to the second score line. The path of the first and third score lines intersect one another at an intersection point, one of the first and second score lines is a discontinuous score line and the other is a continuous score line. The discontinuous score line is interrupted closely adjacent the intersection point such that the first and third score lines do not overlap at the intersection point. The corner panel is severable from the remainder of the lid by depressing it to cause it to buckle inwardly upon itself along the third score line and simultaneously causing it to tear between the first and second score lines to form an opening between the corner panel and the remainder of the lid.

Vent opening scoring in container lid

A cardboard container having a dispensing opening formed in the lower portion of its front wall through which articles can be withdrawn. The container has a bottom wall that is elevated from its lower end. The front portions of the lower edges of the side walls and the lower edge of the front wall overhanging the front edge of the bottom wall, whereby the bottom wall has an area less than the cross-sectional area container space above the bottom wall. When a stack of articles are housed in the container with the lowermost article resting on the bottom wall it will overhang the bottom wall in the area of the dispensing opening and can be manipulated from the underside of its overhanging portion and removed from the container through the dispensing opening from the container.

The invention is a paperboard container having a base, a cover, and a divider in the base, the divider having four panels that each radiate from a common center and terminate in a corner of the base. The dividers extend above the height of the base to form a guide for the cover as it is telescoped thereover and form a rigid container structure strengthened by the dividers.

Divided display container

The invention relates to a paperboard container with small ventilation holes in the order of less than 3/32 of an inch in diameter. The holes are not punched but rather are formed by making small U-shaped cuts at a corner fold of the container blank and by making the corner fold in the reverse direction.

Dew worm carton

A method of making a folded lined paperboard container having an automatic bottom which locks in a set-up position when the container is manually manipulated from a flat knock-down condition to a set-up position and having a liquid proof liner made of a plastics material is disclosed. Two lined containers are made from each lined blank by cutting the folded blank transversely of side panels between the edges of a band of adhesive extending transversely of the side panels.
