In one embodiment of the present invention, a method and system may be provided for providing notification that an emergency call is being placed. The system and method includes identifying a telephone call as being an emergency call, identifying a calling party of the telephone call, locating a notification list associated with the identified calling party, and sending a notification to members on the notification list.

A system and method for remotely enabled voice activated dialing. Generation of a special dial tone indicating that a user may give the voice identifier is initiated. A voice identifier is received over a network from a wired telephone utilized by a user. Dialing information associated with the voice identifier is determined. One or more receiving parties associated with the voice identifier are dialed. The wired telephone is connected to the one or more receiving parties.

System and method for voice activated dialing from a home phone

A system and method for voice-activated dialing using implicit and explicit trunks including receiving a call from the user telephone and establishing a first connection. In response to establishing the first connection, a second connection may be established over the implicit trunk. In response to establishing the second connection, a third connection may be initiated. In response to the user telephone sending a keyword, the implicit trunk may be disconnected and the call may be connected via the explicit trunk. If a spoken number is received, then the spoken number may be translated into a computer readable telephone number. Alternatively, if a dialed telephone number is received from the user telephone, the telephone number may be used to route the call. In response to receiving the telephone number, the explicit trunk may be disconnected and the call from the user telephone may be routed to the received telephone number.

A system and method for processing toll free telephone calls by a telecommunications service provider may include receiving, by the telecommunications service provider, a telephone call request for a telephone call being placed to a toll free telephone number from a telephone within a service area of the telecommunications service provider. The telecommunications service provider may determine that the toll free telephone number is one operated by the telecommunications service provider. The telephone call may be routed via a network of the telecommunications service provider to a telephone associated with the toll free telephone number to connect the telephone call.

A system for voice-activated dialing including means for initiating a call through a first connection between a user's phone and a switch at a central office; responsive to the first connection, means for initiating a second connection over the implicit trunk between the switch and a voice over internet protocol gateway; responsive to the second connection, means for initiating a third connection between the voice over internet protocol gateway and a voice-activated dialing platform; responsive to a keyword sent from the user's phone to the voice-activated dialing platform, means for disconnecting the implicit trunk and signaling the switch to connect to the voice-activated dialing platform over the explicit trunk; and responsive to a dialed number sent from the user's phone to the voice-activated dialing platform, means for handing the call off from the internet protocol gateway to the switch at the central office to process through call the implicit trunk.
