A radiographic imaging system may be deployed in an ICU unit of a medical facility that may benefit from isolating patients and health care providers. The radiography system provides a plurality of patient beds each having a digital radiographic detector positioned therein. An x-ray source is operable to be selectively positioned relative to each of the patient beds using a remote control system. The remote control system also controls firing of the x-ray source.

Remote and automated intensive care unit

The present invention is directed to a system and method for dual-energy (DE) or multiple-energy (spectral) cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) using a configuration of multiple x-ray sources and a single detector. The x-ray sources are operated to produce x-ray spectra of different energies (peak kilovoltage (kVp) and/or filtration). Volumetric 3D image reconstruction and dual or triple energy 3D image decomposition can be executed using data from the CBCT scan. The invention allows for a variety of selections in energy and filtration associated with each source and the order of pulsing for each source ('firing pattern'). The motivation for distributing the sources along the z direction in CBCT includes extension of the longitudinal field of view and reduction of cone-beam artifacts.

Dual-energy cone-beam computed tomography with a multiple source, single-detector configuration

A mobile radiography apparatus has a moveable (e.g., wheeled) transport frame and an adjustable column mounted at the frame. A boom apparatus supported by the adjustable column can support an x-ray source assembly. Radiation or X-ray source assembly methods and/or apparatus embodiments can provide mobile radiography carts a capability to direct x-ray radiation towards a subject from one or a plurality of different source positions, where the X-ray source assembly includes a first x-ray power source and a second plurality of distributed x-ray sources disposed in a prescribed spatial relationship.

Mobile radiographic apparatus/methods with tomosynthesis capability

An apparatus for cone beam computed tomography can include a support structure, a scanner assembly coupled to the support structure for controlled movement in at least x, y and z orientations, the scanner assembly can include a DR detector configured to move along at least a portion of a detector path that extends at least partially around a scan volume with a distance D1 that is sufficiently long to allow the scan volume to be positioned within the detector path; a radiation source configured to move along at least a portion of a source path outside the detector path, the source path having a distance D2 greater than the distance D1, the distance D2 being sufficiently long to allow adequate radiation exposure of the scan volume for an image capture by the detector; and a first gap in the detector path.

Extremity imaging apparatus for cone beam computed tomography

A system for cone beam computed tomography of an extremity has an x-ray source and a digital radiographic detector both revolved about a central imaging axis so that the detector moves at least partially around a first extremity of a patient and, if the extremity is the leg of the patient, the detector moves between the legs of the patient. The detector path has a radial distance less than that of the source path. A housing that encloses the source and detector includes a pivoting door to allow sideways access for the patient's leg to be placed at the central imaging axis.

An imaging method, accesses cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) data and displays, on a display monitor, at least one view of the CBCT data. The method provides an interface for a user to indicate a tomosynthesis reconstruction plane on the displayed view of the CBCT data; and displays a tomosynthesis image on the display monitor according to the indicated tomosynthesis reconstruction plane.

Tomosynthesis views from cone beam computed tomography data

An apparatus captures radiographic images of an animal standing on the apparatus. A base portion supports the standing animal and a moveable x-ray source is mechanically attached to the base portion. A digital radiographic detector is also mechanically attached to the base portion, and the x-ray source and the detector are configured to capture a radiographic image or a scan of at least one of the legs of the animal.

Extremity imaging for animals

Embodiments of methods and/or apparatus for a radiographic imaging can include a plurality of x-ray sources disposed in a curve and a detector configured to revolve relative thereto. In one embodiment, a CBCT imaging method and/or apparatus can include performing a first scan at a first speed using stationary angularly distributed x-ray sources to acquire first CBCT projection data that impinge a detector of a first field of view (FOV), identifying an area of interest within the first FOV, and performing a second scan at a second speed using the x-ray sources acquire second CBCT projection data that impinge a portion of the detector of a second smaller FOV including the area of interest within the first FOV using second emissions by the x-ray sources, where the second speed is greater than the first speed.

Cone beam computed tomography volumetric imaging system

A method for defining the shape of a radiation beam that is directed toward a subject and to a free-standing imaging detector detects the position and orientation of the imaging detector relative to a radiation source, then adjusts an aperture that lies in the path of the radiation beam to shape the beam for incidence on a predetermined area of the detector according to the detected imaging detector position. The radiation source is energized to emit the shaped radiation beam and the image data about the subject is acquired from the imaging detector.

Rapid frame-rate wireless imaging system

An apparatus for cone beam computed tomography of an extremity has a digital radiation detector and a first device to move the detector along a circular detector path extending so that the detector moves both at least partially around a first extremity of the patient and between the first extremity and a second, adjacent extremity. The detector path has radius Rsufficient to position the extremity approximately centered in the detector path. There is a radiation source with a second device to move the source along a concentric circular source path having a radius Rgreater than radius R, radius Rsufficiently long to allow adequate radiation exposure of the first extremity for an image capture by the detector. A first circumferential gap in the source path allows the second extremity to be positioned in the first circumferential gap during image capture.

A CBCT imaging system comprises a digital radiation detector and radiation source. A detector transport moves the detector along at least a portion of a first curved path and a radiation source transport moves the radiation source along at least a portion of a second curved source path. The detector is configured to travel at least a portion of the first curved path, and the radiation source is configured to travel at least a portion of the second curved path. The detector is configured to obtain a plurality of 2D projection images over a range of scan angles for reconstructing a 3D volume image using the plurality 2D projection images.

Head and neck imager

A mobile radiography apparatus has a moveable (e.g., wheeled) transport frame and an adjustable column mounted at the frame. Certain exemplary methods and/or apparatus embodiments can provide mobile radiography carts a capability to direct x-ray radiation towards a subject from one or a plurality of different source positions, and reconstruct two-dimensional or three-dimensional tomosynthesis images where an imaging geometry of x-ray source positions to a radiographic detection array is not known for a plurality of x-ray tomosynthesis projection images. In one embodiment, an imaging geometry and tomosynthesis reconstruction(s) can be simultaneously determined by iteratively determining a current imaging geometry while iteratively monitoring a metric (e.g., stopping criterion) that approaches a prescribed or desired value associated with the tomosynthesis reconstruction.
