Embodiments of the present invention provide a method, system and computer program product for hierarchical access control administration preview of access control rights for hierarchically organized content. In an embodiment of the invention, a method for rendering a hierarchical access control administration preview of access control rights for hierarchically organized content can be provided. The method can include rendering a view of hierarchically organized content in connection with corresponding access rights and proposing explicitly assigned access rights for selected content in the hierarchically organized content. The method also can include re-rendering the view to reflect both the proposed explicitly assigned access rights for the selected content and also implicitly resulting assigned access rights for the children of the selected content.

Embodiments of the present invention provide a method, system and computer program product for Web user interface component coordination. In an embodiment of the invention, a method for Web user interface component coordination can include receiving an event indicating a state change in one of many user interface components in a user interface for a Web application and determining whether or not remaining ones of the components are active and able to receive a notification of the event. In the former circumstance, notice of the event can be transmitted to the remaining ones of the components. However, in the latter circumstance, transmission of the notice of the event to the remaining ones of the components can be delayed until the components are determined to have become active and able to receive a notification of the event.

Automated interface generation for computer programs operating in different environments is provided. An automated interface generation system, method, computer program product and article of manufacture is provided comprising an import utility and a runtime environment. The import utility imports a COBOL IMS transaction source file, parses the specified input and output message records, and generates an application programming interface. The application programming interface operates with the runtime environment to take the data values from the language of a different environment and translate them to a formatted IMS input message. This format is derived from the definition of the input message record in the COBOL IMS transaction source file. After the IMS transaction has executed, the resulting IMS output message is translated back to the data values of the language of the different environment, said values including the results of the transaction. The translation step handles data conversion between different code pages, machine architectures, and program semantics, and handles the dynamic nature of IMS messages.

Methods, systems and articles of manufacture comprising a computer usable medium having computer readable program code means therein are directed to a framework for representation and manipulation of record oriented data. The present invention is directed to a system for for automated interface generation for computer programs operating in different environments. The system comprises a utility which imports a CICS COBOL transaction source file, parses the communication area of the CICS file, and generates modelling information. The modelling information represents the nature and structure of data in the CICS transaction source file, and is written to a persistent data store. The utility uses the information in the persistent data store to generate an application programming interface. The application programming interface takes the data values from the other language and translates them to a formatted CICS COBOL communications area. This format is derived from the definition of the CICS communications area contained in the imported CICS program. After the translation runs, the resulting CICS COBOL communications area is translated back to the data values of the other language. This translation step also handles the data conversion between different codepages and machine architectures and program semantics. The resulting language values represent the result of the transaction. The CICS transaction is accessed using the CICS External Call Interface mechanism.

A framework having a plurality of directories representing different types of middlewares and distributed object systems can be constructed from data provided in a class library. Each directory includes the name and address of all service objects, located across multiple servers in the system, that supports the specific middleware or distributed object policy characteristics for that directory. One service object may be addressed through multiple directories. When a remote method call is issued by a client, a list of service objects capable of executing the call is obtained from the directories and one object selected. The policy characteristics associated with the directory from which the object address is selected, are attached to the call. These characteristics are validated when the addressed server receives the call. In this way, a client program can be written entirely independently of the middleware or peculiarity of implementation of the distributed object service.

A fall arrest device movable along a vertical lifeline comprises a toothed wheel rotatable in its own housing, which housing is pivoted and spring loaded inside an outer housing, so as to cause the toothed wheel to bear upon a lifeline running within a covered channel at the front of the outer housing. The toothed wheel thus pivots with respect to the outer housing and friction between the wheel and the rope causes the wheel to rotate as the device is moved up or down the rope. When the downward velocity of the outer housing reaches a predetermined rate, a centrifugal clutch mechanism stops the rotation of the toothed wheel so that the friction between the rope and the stationary toothed wheel causes the housing of the toothed wheel to pivot within the outer housing, wedging the rope against the outer housing and causing the rope to jam to prevent further movement of the fall arrest device therealong.
