A curved tracking platform that can be employed on a dynamic seat or divan such as those used in a business jet aircraft so that the seat can be comfortably used as a seat or in an extended bed position. When in the unextended seat position, the tracking platform allows the horizontal portion of the seat to support an occupant pitched back toward the vertical seat cushion at or about an angle of 6&#xb0; to the horizontal. However, when the tracking platform is extended so that the seat can be used as a bed, the tracking platform travels along a curved frame rail profile which allows the platform to lay flat or substantially flat, thus allowing the vertical cushion to be placed next to the horizontal seat cushion so that they lie substantially flat to provide optimized comfort.

An attachment assembly for mounting a seat frame to a floor of a vehicle, the assembly including a floor mount secured to the floor, a foot fitting connected to the floor mount, the foot fitting having a connection portion adapted to mate with a leg of a seat frame, the connection portion having an opening extending therethrough, and an articulating connection attached to the leg portion and extending through the opening in the connection portion. An articulating foot fitting is also disclosed.

Attachment assembly for mounting a seat to the floor of a vehicle

An improved door and drawer assembly for use with a seat on a passenger vehicle. The door and drawer assembly are installed in the passenger vehicle independent of the seat and thus not physically connected to the seat frame. Any load that is applied to the seat frame during movement of the vehicle or caused by passenger movement or support is not imposed on the door and drawer assembly. Accordingly, the operation of the door and drawer assembly is not adversely affected by the loads imposed on the seat frame. Alternatively, the drawer assembly can be excluded so that the door assembly can provide access to an area under the seat in which emergency equipment, such as a life raft bag assembly and life vests, can be stored.

A headrest support assembly for a seat apparatus capable of positioning the headrest in a variety of positions, including a position that provides headrest support to raise the head while the seat is in a reclined position.

A reclining chair, in particular a passenger chair, for use in a vehicle such as an aircraft, bus or mobile home. The chair includes a base assembly, a seat frame located above the base assembly, a seat attached to the seat frame, and a seat back connected to the seat frame. In various embodiments, the chair includes features such as an energy absorbing base assembly, an adjustable arm rest, a fully reclining seat back and a seat that increases its angle with respect to the horizontal as the seat back reclines, thereby forcing one back into the chair. The seat and seat back is also capable of achieving a fully horizontal position when the seat back is fully reclined.

A moveable seat comprising a seat frame assembly and a tapered swivel assembly, the tapered swivel assembly having components that are laterally immobile with respect to each other, despite forces from the seat frame assembly upon the tapered swivel assembly. A support frame for a seat, in particular an aircraft seat, where the support frame includes a seat support member having an upper surface and a lower surface, a plurality of leg members that each have a first end and a second end, with the first end attached to the lower surface of the seat support member. An angled flexible leg brace capable of stretching to absorb a dynamic load on the frame extends between at least two of the plurality of leg members.

A meal tray assembly including a meal tray for being mounted for movement between a stowage position flush against a seat back and a lowered, horizontal use position. A latch access port extends through the meal tray from the top side to the bottom side thereof. A latch is carried on the seat back for cooperation with the latch access port in the meal tray. The latch is mounted for movement between a release position wherein the latch is extendable through the latch access port for permitting movement of the meal tray to and from the stowage position and the use position, and a locking position wherein the latch locks the meal tray in the stowage position against the surface.

An armrest for a passenger seat includes an armrest support for being pivotally-mounted to a seat frame for movement between a lowered position and a raised position. The armrest support defines a void for carrying wiring and cabling and an opening adjacent the pivoting end of the armrest for permitting access to the interior of the armrest support. An armrest pivot cover is provided for normally being received in and covering the opening of the armrest support to protect the wiring and cabling. The armrest pivot cover includes a pivoting cylindrical member mounted for pivotal movement in a socket for a predetermined range of pivotal movement relative to the armrest support. A flexible hinge is carried by the pivoting cylindrical pivoting member for permitting further movement of the lower armrest cover past the partially-open position to a fully-open position thereby exposing fully the wiring for installation or service access.

A passenger seat back recline assembly, including a seat bottom chassis including a plurality of leg modules and section assembly modules, a plurality of beam elements carrying the leg modules and section assembly modules in spaced-apart relation to each other to define a ladder frame assembly, a seat back unit pivotally-mounted between two of the section assembly modules for permitting the angle of the seat back relative to the seat bottom chassis to be varied as desired by the passenger, a recline unit for controlling movement of the seat back and locking the seat back in a desired recline position, an occupant-activated seat back recline control for maintaining the seat back in a normally-locked condition relative to the seat bottom chassis and for permitting the occupant to release the normally-locked condition of the cylinder assembly by activating the seat back recline control to thus permit movement of the seat back to a desired position and deactivating the seat back recline control to lock the seat back in the desired position. Respective first and second pivot tubes are provided on which the fluid cylinder assembly is mounted, the first and second pivot tubes being positioned in respective first and second pivot holes formed in the section assembly module. First and second locking spacer collars are positioned in surrounding position on respective first and second pivot tubes intermediate the section assembly module and the seat back unit pivoted thereto.

A passenger seat which includes a seat bottom chassis assembled from a plurality of leg modules attached to fixed, spaced-apart attachment points on a supporting surface, and a plurality of beam elements for being carried by the leg modules. A plurality of clamp joints are positioned on a first side of the leg modules in a first laterally-offset relation thereto in a first spaced-apart relation to the attachment points of the supporting surface and for receiving the plurality of beam elements for defining a ladder frame assembly having a first specified width and seat spacing. The plurality of clamp joints are removable from the first side of the leg modules can positioned on a second, opposite side of the leg modules in a second laterally-offset relation for defining a ladder frame assembly having a second specified width and seat spacing while the plurality of leg modules maintain the same position relative to each other and thus to the fixed, spaced apart attachment points whereby the location of the seats may be altered while using the same beam elements.

A passenger seat with low profile seat back recline locking assembly, including a recline unit for controlling movement of the seat back and locking the seat back in a desired recline position. A hydraulic cylinder assembly is pivotally-mounted by a first end thereof to a section assembly module of the seat and by an opposite second end thereof to the seat back unit. The cylinder assembly has a longitudinally-extending axis extending in alignment with the longitudinally-extending, generally vertical plane of the seat back. An actuator is positioned astride and operatively connected to the fluid cylinder adjacent one or the other of the first and second ends thereof. An occupant-activated seat back recline control allows the occupant to maintain the seat back in a normally-locked condition relative to the seat bottom chassis and for permitting the occupant to release the normally-locked condition of the cylinder assembly by activating the seat back recline control to thus permit movement of the seat back to a desired position and deactivating the seat back recline control to lock the seat back in the desired position.
