A two-part adhesive includes an A side, a B side, at least one of a polyurethane prepolymer and a diisocyanate, at least one polyol, at least one catalyst, and at least one chain extender. The two-part adhesive may include an adhesion promoter.

Reactive roofing adhesive

A two-part adhesive includes an A side, a B side, at least one of a polyurethane prepolymer and a diisocyanate, a polyol, a catalyst, and an adhesion promoter. The polyurethane prepolymer or diisocyanate is present in the A side from about 50% to 100% by weight of the A side composition. The polyol is present in the B side from about 52% to about 98% by weight of the B side composition. The catalyst is present in the B side from about 0.5% to about 5% by weight of the B side composition. The adhesion promoter is present in at least one of the A side composition and the B side composition from about 10% to about 50% by weight of the two-part adhesive. A ratio of isocyanate groups in the A side to hydroxyl groups in the B side is greater than 1.5:1.

A system for applying a two-part adhesive to a substrate includes a prime mover for providing an output torque, a first pump connected to the prime mover for receiving the output torque, the first pump having an inlet and an outlet, a second pump connected to the prime mover for receiving the output torque, the second pump having an inlet and an outlet, a first compound in communication with the inlet of the first pump, a second compound in communication with the inlet of the second pump, a first accumulator in communication with the outlet of the first pump, a second accumulator in communication with the outlet of the second pump, a first manifold in communication with the outlet of the first pump, and a second manifold in communication with the outlet of the second pump. A plurality of applicators is included.

Adhesive applicator

A device for applying a two-part adhesive to a substrate includes a carrier, a first tray coupled to the carrier, a first package disposed in the first tray, and a second package disposed in the first tray. The first package contains a first part of the two-part adhesive and the second package contains a second part of the two-part adhesive. The device further includes a applicator that is in communication with the first package and the second package. The applicator is configured to receive the first part and the second part and mix the first part and the second part to form the two-part adhesive. The device also includes a second tray coupled to the carrier and configured to accommodate a power supply that provides electrical power to operate the device.

A distribution apparatus for applying a one or two-part adhesive to a substrate includes a wand with a plurality of openings through which the adhesive is dispensed. An extension is connected in fluid communication to the wand. The extension directs a flow of adhesive to the wand.

Roof adhesive distribution apparatus

Method of applying a polyurethane adhesive to a substrate

An adhesive composition for use in adhering insulation panels to roofing substrates and roofing membranes to the insulation panels include two components that are mixed prior to application on the roofing substrate. The first component may include a renewable polyol and catalyst. The renewable polyol is selected from any non-petroleum based polyol that is derived from a renewable source. The second component includes isocyanate, and may also include a polyol and a catalyst. The isocyanate and the polyol may each be any non-petroleum based isocyanate or polyol that is derived from a renewable source.

Bio-based roofing adhesive compositions

Catalyst compositions for use in forming polyurethane products include a gelling catalyst, a trimerization catalyst, and a cure accelerator. The gelling catalyst is a tertiary amine, mono(tertiary amino) urea, bis(tertiary amino) urea, or a combination of any of these. Any known trimerization catalyst may be used. The cure accelerator may be a diol having at least one primary hydroxyl group, and having from five to 17 chain backbone atoms chosen from carbon, oxygen, or both between the hydroxyl groups, provided that at least five of the backbone atoms are carbon. Alternatively or in addition, the cure accelerator may be a polyol having three or more hydroxyl groups, at least two of which are primary, and having molecular weights between 90 g/mole and 400 g/mole. Delayed initiation of the polyurethane-forming reaction and/or reduced demold time for producing the polyurethane part can be obtained by using these catalyst compositions.

A polyurethane catalyst composition comprises N,N'-bis(3-dimethylaminopropyl) urea and 3-dimethylaminopropyl urea in a ratio that can be varied to systematically control flowability, % open cell content and k-factor value for rigid polyurethane foam to enhance processibility. Increasing the N,N'-bis(3-dimethylaminopropyl) urea to 3-dimethylaminopropyl urea ratio decreases the open cell content and k-factor value of the foam whereas decreasing the N,'N-bis(3-dimethylaminopropyl) urea to 3-dimethylaminopropyl urea ratio improves the flowability of the foaming composition.
