A handheld computer comprises a housing and a cover removably connected thereto by a universal hinge assembly. The universal hinge assembly includes a tubular member or arm having a proximal end fixedly (non-rotatably) secured to an edge of the cover and a distal end pivotally coupled to an edge of the cover. The pivotal coupling may comprise a ball and socket arrangement, a pin and slot arrangement, or any other type of coupling arrangement that enables universal pivoting movement and releasable attachment between the cover and the housing. The cover may include a cushion designed to abut a display screen mounted in the housing when the cover is in a closed position. A method of reconfiguring an encasement of a handheld computer having a cover releasably coupled thereto includes removing the first cover and replacing it with a second cover of a different type.

Cover for mobile computer

A retractable headrest is movable between an extended position for protecting a passenger and a retracted position for improving rearward visibility. In a first embodiment, the headrest is positioned below a stretchable fabric panel which allows a headrest shell to be raised into the extended position by stretching the panel. A second embodiment incorporates an extending cushion that can be moved between the extended and retracted positions by an extending arm. A third embodiment incorporates a support frame that can be folded or bowed by a drive mechanism to move between the retracted and extended positions. A fourth embodiment is a hybrid between the second and third embodiments.

Retractable headrest

An at least partially moveable motor-vehicle outer skin is already known per se. An actuator formed of a polymer and/or ion-exchanging and/or other material exhibiting various conformations is provided so that the outer skin can be moved. This material is moveable as a result of physical or chemical effects. The novel outer skin of a motor vehicle requires no expensive tools for the production thereof. The flat section of the outer skin of the bodywork of a motor vehicle is made of a flexible material. A flexible material such as material for convertible top covers is easily moveable yet the surface thereof cannot be increased. This material is tensed at least over one part of the rib of the motor vehicle, e.g. over a space frame. At least one mechanically moveable adjusting element is provided beneath or on top of the edge of the section enabling the outer skin to be deformed. The adjusting element is normally connected to the rib of the motor vehicle.

The hinge assembly enables the cover to be moved to at least three different positions. The cover provides a different function in each position. A method of reconfiguring an encasement of a handheld computer to provide at least two different functions includes rotating the cover about at least two different axes to move the cover between at least two different positions. Motorcycle body

A tour guide cabinet for a coach comprises a cabinet body having a rear portion resting upon a seat frame of the coach and a front portion having a bottom surface resting upon the floor of the coach forwardly of the seat. The front and rear portions each defining an upper surface spaced upwardly of the seat and arranged to define at least one storage compartment therein for receiving tour guide materials. The cabinet body has a width so as to overlie only one half of a double seat leaving the other part for the tour guide. A shelf extends from the cabinet body outwardly to one side. The front portion includes a storage cabinet with a drawer underneath the bottom surface of the rear portion and forwardly of the seat. The bottom surface of the rear portion includes a clamp to engage onto the seat frame with the cushion removed. The upper surface of the rear portion includes a part thereof extending rearwardly beyond a rear edge of the bottom surface of the rear portion with a rear edge of the part being curved in plan view so as to follow a contour of a seat back cushion of the seat.

Tour guide cabinet for use in a passenger vehicle

A stairway for a motor coach is located in one side wall of the motor coach immediately adjacent the front wall and in front of the front wheel well. The stairway cooperates with a hinged door mounted at the front wall and openable to an angle less than 90.degree. from the coach side. The stairway is defined by a plurality of steps of equal riser height together with two vertical side walls each on a respective side of the stairway. The walls are smoothly curved around a center of curvature rearwardly of the stairway and to one side of the coach so that the stairway smoothly curves from a front edge at the doorway to a ramp section of the aisle commencing at a line at right angles to the side of the coach. The front edge of each step is at an angle to the front edge of the next step so that the steps provide gradual turning from the side of the coach to the front of the aisle. The stairway commences initially into the coach in a direction slightly toward the front of the coach so as to cooperate with the door in directing the passengers along the side of the coach, into the stairway, around the stairway and onto the aisle.
