A fluorescence histo-tomography (FHT) method may include capturing, using an imaging device positioned with respect to a chamber of a slicing apparatus, images of a block face of a specimen retained within the chamber. The images may be captured in the visible and infrared or near-infrared spectrum. The method may include co-registering the images to form a combined image, and providing the combined image to an electronic display. In some implementations, the method may include positioning the imaging device away from the chamber, operating the slicing apparatus to expose a second block face of the specimen, and repositioning the imaging device with respect to the chamber.

Fluorescence histo-tomography (FHT) systems and methods

The present invention provides autoradiography methods and systems for imaging via the detection of alpha particles, beta particles, or other charged particles. Embodiments of the methods and systems provide high-resolution 3D imaging of the distribution of a radioactive probe, such as a radiopharmaceutical, on a tissue sample. Embodiments of the present methods and systems provide imaging of tissue samples by reconstruction of a 3D distribution of a source of particles, such as a radiopharmaceutical. Embodiments of the methods and systems provide tomographic methods including microtomography, macrotomography, cryomicrotomography and cryomacrotomography.

Particle emission tomography

Embodiments related to methods and wearable medical detecting systems for detecting disease states and/or treatment states of a subject are described. In one embodiment, a wearable structure may include one or more radiation detectors use to detect a time varying radiation signal emitted from a labeled compound within a body portion of interest. The radiation signal may be analyzed to determine one or more signal characteristics that may be compared to one or more predetermined standard characteristics associated with known disease and/or treatment states to determine a current disease and/or treatment state of a subject.

Medical diagnostic and treatment systems and their methods of use

In one embodiment, a fluorescence histo-tomography (FHT) system is disclosed. The FHT system includes an imaging housing, a fluorescence camera located within the housing, a white light camera located within the imaging housing, and a fluorescence light source located within the imaging housing. The FHT system further includes a support mount configured to support the imaging housing within a chamber of a slicing apparatus such that the cameras and fluorescence light source are aimed towards a block face of a tissue specimen retained within the chamber.

Various embodiments of medical detector systems as well as their methods of operation are disclosed. In one embodiment, one or more detectors are coupled to wearable structures for detecting at least a first tracer within a body portion. In another embodiment, one or more detectors are coupled to a wearable structure, where the detector corresponds to a CMOS chip that directly detects a first radioactive tracer.

The present invention provides methods and systems for 3D imaging of in vivo and ex vivo tissues. The disclosed systems and methods employ an autoradiographic approach where particles emitted by a radioactive composition within the tissue are detected. Once detected, a 3D representation of the source of particles within the tissue is reconstructed for viewing and analysis.

Disclosed is a computer-implemented method of creating an image of a specimen including receiving a first image of a first section of a specimen created using a first wavelength of invisible light a second image of a second section of the specimen adjacent to the first section and the second image created using the first wavelength of invisible light, co-registering the first image and the second image and creating, by the processor, a single-plane image of the first section using a next-image process.

A method of estimating a parameter of physiological significance in the central nervous system (CNS) is provided. The method comprises (a) providing one or more images of the brain or cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) in a subject to whom a dose of a contrast agent (CA) has been administered; (b) determining, using a computer equipped with image processing software, the concentration or relative concentration of the agent in a region or regions of interest in the brain or CSF, thereby generating concentration data; (c) describing the time-based behavior of concentrations of CA within the brain or CSF using a pharmacokinetic model that is based on a set of pharmacokinetic model parameters; and (d) fitting, using computer code, the pharmacokinetic model to the concentration data, varying one or more parameters, wherein the best fit estimates a parameter of physiological significance in the CNS.

Estimating pharmacokinetic parameters in imaging

A method is provided for estimating a parameter of physiological significance. One or more images are provided of a tissue in a subject to whom a dose of a contrast agent (CA) has been administered, using a computer equipped with image processing software, the concentration or relative concentration of the agent in a region or regions of interest in the tissue is determined, thus generating concentration data. The time-based behavior of concentrations of CA within the tissue is determined using a pharmacokinetic model that is based on a set of pharmacokinetic model parameters. Using computer code, the pharmacokinetic model is fit to the concentration data, varying one or more parameters, such that a best fit estimate of a parameter of physiological significance is provided.
