A system for providing resources to customers includes racks, sub-rack level secure containment units in the racks, and a provisioning control system. The sub-rack level secure containment units each enclose system resources. The racks hold two or more of the sub-rack level secure containment units. For each customer, the provisioning control system may provision a set of sub-rack level secure containment units to the customer. The provisioning control system may monitor, and create a record of, events of physical access to the system resources in each customer's set of sub-rack level secure containment units.

Providing system resources with secure containment units

A modular computing system for a data center includes one or more data center modules including rack computer systems. An electrical module is coupled to the data center modules and provides electrical power to computer systems in the data center modules. The data center modules do not include any internal active cooling systems and cannot be coupled with any external active cooling systems. A data center module directs ambient air to flow into intake air plenums extending along intake sides of the rows of racks, through the rows of racks into exhaust plenums extending along exhaust sides of the rows of racks, and out into the ambient environment to cool computer systems in the racks. Directed airflow can be lateral, vertical, at least partially driven by air buoyancy gradients, at least partially induced by air moving devices internal to computer systems in the rows of racks, thereof, etc.

A data center can include at least one computing room, and at least one rack system disposed in the computing room. The rack system includes a rack housing and a plurality of computing devices mounted to the rack housing. The data center can further include a cooling system that includes at least one surface that is wetted with a liquid, and delivers source air across the at least one surface such that heat is transferred from the source air to the liquid so as to produce cold air. The cold air then flows into a cold air aisle and is received in the computing devices so as to cool the computing devices.

An apparatus for disposal of electronic devices includes a transport mechanism for transferring the storage devices through the apparatus. A scanner scans or reads the devices as the devices move through the apparatus, a sanitizer for degaussing or erasing the storage devices, and a destruction mechanism for physically deforming the devices. The apparatus is further configured to receive scanned information from the scanner, determine identification information for the devices based on the scanned information, and update status information of the devices during movement of the devices between the scanner, sanitizer, and destruction mechanism.

A data center includes two or more rack computing systems and an air handling system. The rack computing systems may each include racks and computing devices mounted in the rack. The air handling system includes one or more air moving devices external to the one or more racks. The air moving devices create a negative pressure relative to ambient air at air inlets to the racks to draw air from the inlets and through computing devices in the racks.

An air containment system for a datacenter. The air containment system includes horizontally slidable vertical rails that engage the rear rails to two adjacent server racks. The vertical rails can include a front face that is compressible to provide an airtight connection with the server racks. Filler plates attach to adjacent vertical rails and fill the space between a top of the server rack and the top of the rails.

Techniques are described for providing an automatic transfer switch (ATS), such as in a data center, to switch between a primary power system and a reserve power system based on a priority of the computing systems to which the ATS is supplying power. The ATS obtains the priority from a centralized database and obtains an existing load on the reserve power system. If the existing load is too high and the priority of the computing systems coupled to the ATS is too low, then the ATS may not switch to utilizing the reserve power system upon a failure in the primary power system.

A system for removing heat from electrical systems includes a dehumidification device including a desiccant, an evaporative cooling device, air moving devices, and an air flow control devices. The air moving device moves air through the dehumidification device, the evaporative cooling device, and the electrical systems. The air flow control device controls a rate of flow through the dehumidification device.

A system includes one or more electrical systems, an electrical power distribution system, one or more power sensors, an air handling system, and one or more controllers. The electrical power distribution system includes power distribution lines. The power distribution lines supply electrical power to the electrical systems. The power sensors are coupled to the power distribution lines. The power sensors sense characteristics of electrical power supplied to at least one of the electrical systems (for example, current draw). The one or more controllers control the air handling system based on characteristics measured by the power sensors.

A device for testing an automatic transfer switch includes a primary power supply input, a controlled primary power output, a primary power source selection assembly, an output electrical power monitor unit, and a control input. The power source selection assembly is controllable to enable selective communication of electrical power received via the primary power supply input to the controlled primary power output. The output electrical power monitor unit is configured to monitor electrical power supplied to a connected load via the automatic transfer switch. The control input is operatively coupled with the primary power source selection assembly and the output electrical power monitor unit to enable control of the operation of the primary power source selection assembly via an external controller and to transfer output from the output electrical power monitor unit to the external controller.

A system for managing air flow computing devices in a rack includes a stall and filler elements. The stall includes a stall top panel and two side panels spaced apart from one another. The stall accommodates a rack computing system. The filler elements fill gaps between the computing devices of the rack computing systems and the panels of the stalls. An air moving system moves air from the cold aisle through cold-aisle facing air inlets of the computing devices. The filler elements inhibit air moving toward the cold aisle-facing inlets from leaking through gaps between the computing devices of the rack computing systems and the stall panels such that the filler elements inhibit air moving toward inlets in the computing devices from leaking through the gaps between the computing devices in the rack and the stall panels.

A power routing rack can be used to provide various power support redundancies to one or more computing racks in a data center. Power feeds are supplied to bus bars in a power bus bar array extending through the rack, and power routing assemblies positioned in the rack route power from one or more of the bus bars to a computing rack. Each assembly includes circuit breakers that couple to separate bus bars and a routing module that routes power from one or more of the circuit breakers to one or more computing racks. The routing module can include a transfer switch that selectively routes power. The routing module can include an electrical bridge that concurrently routes power. Each assembly can be positioned within the rack to couple the circuit breakers to various power bus bars to adjust the power support redundancy provided to one or more computing racks.
