A headlamp illumination source that switches from a first configuration conforming to on-road illumination standards to a second configuration that does not conform to on-road illumination standards. The switching is preferably controlled by a wireless signal but in some embodiments the switching can be controlled by a hard-wired signal or by a switch proximate the illumination source itself.

LED headlamp system with brightness control

A system and method for performing structural health monitoring on a structural element while it remains in service and experiences normal loading. The energy input to the element will be the normal and random energy inputs the element sees in service. The inventive system places an intelligent module at one or more points along the length of the structural element. The inventive system collects mass data from multiple modules on multiple elements. The system then applies machine learning or artificial intelligence techniques to detect changes in the measurements received from one or more modules. This approach reduces or eliminates the need to provide calibrated input energy. The invention preferably provides the ability to determine the condition of one element or sub-element under measurement relative to other elements.

Structural health monitoring system and method

A calibration process for use in calibrating intelligent cable modules. A separate calibration load cell is provided. This device is placed in the load path for the cable on which the intelligent cable module is installed. The calibration load cell then establishes a communication link with the intelligent cable module. An iterative series of loading cycles are started. Tension data as measured by the calibration load cell is used to create a calibration curve. This calibration curve is used to correlate internal measurements made by the intelligent cable module against a desired value&#x2014;such as cable tension.

Intelligent cable module calibration system and method

An integrated intelligent cable module for use in a tensile fiber strength member. The module preferably includes an integral instrument package. The instrument package may assume many forms and may serve many purposes. The module preferably includes load-monitoring, recording features, and display features. These features act as a 'black box' for the tensile fiber strength member, monitoring its performance and reporting (in real-time or at a later time) any exceedances or any deterioration in performance or structural integrity. These features allow an operator to easily monitor the condition of a tensile fiber strength member&#x2014;preferably while the tensile fiber strength member remains in service.

Intelligent fiber rope termination, module, and networking technologies

A reversible door jamb system for an aperture. The mechanical design of the system allows for a single product to be utilized for doors which open in either direction, often referred to as left handed or right handed operation. The system can have a head jamb, a strike jamb, and a hinge jamb. A stop can be included which is adapted to attach to the head jamb, the strike jamb, or the hinge jamb. The strike jamb and the hinge jamb are interchangeable to allow for reversing the swing of a door panel.

Reversible door jamb system

A nut driver bit is designed to install nuts onto threaded shafts, such as all-thread rods and bolts. The nut driver bit may be driven by a power drill which causes a driver end of the nut driver bit to rotate. The driver end may contact a nut, thereby causing the nut to rotate. The driver end may be covered in with a contact grip for gripping the nut during use. A worker may install and spin a nut on a threaded shaft without requiring their fingers to manually rotate the nut. The nut driver bit may drastically reduce the time required to install nuts onto threaded rods.

Nut driver drill bit

A mixing syringe having a first sealed chamber containing a powder (powder housing) and a second sealed chamber containing a liquid (liquid housing). When the user needs to inject a patient, he or she holds the mixing syringe approximately upright and depresses a plunger. This motion causes a piercer to pierce a foil seal separating the two chambers. The liquid then drops down into the powder housing. The liquid flows through a passage in a piston located in the powder housing, where it then comes in contact with the powder itself. As the user continues pressing the plunger downward, the piercer comes to rest within the piston and seals the passage through the piston, thereby locking the piercer and piston together. The device is then ready for an injection. As the plunger is further depressed, the piston expels the powder and liquid mixture through a needle.

Powder and liquid mixing syringe

A termination anchor having a neck region, a mid region, and a distal region. An expanding passage through the anchor from the neck region to the distal region is bounded by an internal surface. Exposed strands on a cable are trapped within this expanding passage by infusing them with liquid potting compound (either before or after the strands are placed within the passage). This liquid potting compound solidifies while the strands are within the anchor to form a solidified potted region. The present invention optimizes the profile of the internal surface in order to transfer stress occurring in the neck region to the mid region and the distal region. By transferring some of this stress, a more uniform stress distribution and a lower peak stress are achieved.

Stress redistributing cable termination

An anchor having an internal passage defined by a revolved wall profile. The anchor is conceptually divided into four regions: a neck region, a transition region, a mid region, and a distal region. Each of these regions has its own design considerations. A portion of a parabola is used to define at least part of the revolved wall profile. The parabolic portion is preferably used in at least the neck and mid regions. In order to create a tangency condition proximate the neck anchor boundary, the parabola used to create the wall profile is angularly offset from the wall profile's axis of rotation.

A detachable mount for a telescopic sight which can be operated using only one latching mechanism. The mount uses a front base attached to the ring of a rifle receiver and a rear base attached to the bridge of a rifle receiver. The upper surfaces of both the front and rear bases open into a pair of slots. A separate scope mount is attached to a scope sight by conventional means. Two sets of lugs descend from the lower surfaces of this scope mount. These sets of descending lugs are configured to fit securely within the slots in the front and rear bases when the scope mount is placed over the bases. The forward facing surfaces of the rear set of descending lugs mate with a corresponding set of rearward facing surfaces in the slots within the rear base. These sets of mating surfaces are offset from the vertical to create a wedging effect that pulls the rear of the scope mount down when it is pushed forward relative to the rifle receiver. The rearward facing surfaces of the front set of descending lugs open into tapered notches. The front base incorporates a transverse slider having a tapered surface which fits within the tapered notches in the front descending lugs. The interaction of this slider with the front lugs pushes the front of the scope mount forward while simultaneously pulling it down. The forward motion also serves to pull the rear of the scope mount down as described previously.

Front interfacing detachable scope mount

An improved framing square having integral features for automating the marking and cutting of angles. The square contains two sliding carriages&mdash;one in the body and one in the blade. Each carriage has a deployable pin. In order to set an angle, the user first deploys the pins in each sliding carriage so that they protrude downward from the square. Next, the user sets the sliding carriage in the body to the desired position and locks it in place. The user then sets the sliding carriage in the blade to the desired position and locks it in place. The two pins protruding from the sliding carriages are then butted against the board to be cut. Once they are in place, the blade of the square will form the correct cutting angle across the board. Since many common cuts employ a twelve inch base leg, the invention includes another feature: Rather than set the sliding carriage within the body to twelve inches, the user may opt instead to deploy a fixed pin located in the body at the twelve inch position. The user then only needs to adjust the sliding carriage within the blade to create a &ldquo;3 in 12&rdquo;,&ldquo;5 in 12&rdquo;,&ldquo;7 in 12&rdquo;, or other desired angle. A second fixed pin is provided at the seventeen inch position on the body. This pin corresponds to the base length commonly used for making hip rafters.

Framing square

A telescopic sight mount for the attachment of a telescopic sight in an offset position along one side of a rifle receiver, designed to allow the user an instant choice between the telescopic sight or the open sights. The mount has attachment features allowing it to use the standard scope mounting holes or dovetail fixtures found on the top of most bolt-action and automatic rifles. Scope cradles are formed integrally with the mount in order to increase rigidity and recoil resistance.
