An electrical connector includes a housing having a cavity extending between a mating end and a cable end. The housing has contact channels extends along channel axes. The electrical connector includes a contact assembly received in the cavity having contacts received in the corresponding contact channels. Each contact has a retention feature. The electrical connector includes a TPA device received in the cavity that extends along an axis parallel to the channel axes. The TPA device includes locking lobes each configured to interface with the retention feature of the corresponding contact to hold the contact in the housing. The TPA device is rotatable about the axis relative to the housing between a clearance position and a blocking position. Each locking lobe interfaces with the corresponding retention feature in the blocking position.

Electrical connector having terminal position assurance device

A connector or connector assembly includes a first body hingedly connected to a second body and movable between a first and second position with respect thereto. The first body includes a first terminal position assurance (TPA) device, a first terminal space receiving a first terminal, and a first terminal latch engaging with the first terminal and securing it within the first terminal space. The second body includes a second TPA device, a second terminal space receiving a second terminal, and a second terminal latch engaging with the second terminal and securing it within the second terminal space. A TPA latch secures the first body and the second body in each of the first and second positions. In the second position, the first TPA device engages with the second terminal, and the second TPA device engages with the first terminal.

Hinged connector

A contact includes a cantilever beam and a protection tab. The cantilever beam extends from a beam connected end to a beam free end along an insertion direction. The protection tab extends from a tab connected end to a tab free end in a direction opposite to the insertion direction. The tab free end is positioned adjacent to the beam free end.

A connector assembly includes an outer conductive body having a first end configured to mate with a corresponding electrical connector, and a conductive center contact arranged within the outer conductive body. The center contact comprises a first end configured to mate with the corresponding electrical connector and a second end electrically connecting with a first electrical contact of a circuit board. An outer contact is slidably attached to a second end of the outer conductive body and electrically connects with a second electrical contact of the circuit board. An elastic element is provided for biasing the outer contact in a direction away from the outer conductive body and toward the circuit board.

Floating header and circuit board assembly

A connector assembly which controls impedance. The connector assembly includes a first metallic outer housing and a second metallic outer housing. The second metallic housing has a conductor receiving portion. A rib is formed in the conductor receiving portion, the rib extends in a direction which is parallel to a longitudinal axis of the second metallic outer shell. A terminal positioned in the connector assembly has a conductor receiving section and a mating terminal receiving section. The mating terminal receiving section has a lead-in portion and securing projections. At least one longitudinally extending opening is positioned about the circumference of the mating terminal receiving section, the opening reduces the cross section of the terminal. The opening provides impedance tuning to allow for a defined pitch of the terminal to be maintained without an impedance drop because of the close proximity of the terminal to an adjacent terminal.

Impedance control connector

A connector for controlling impedance for use in a connector assembly, the connector has a housing made of dielectric material. The housing has a first conductor receiving opening and a second conductor receiving opening which are dimensioned to receive exposed conductors of a cable. The first conductor receiving opening and the second conductor receiving opening have conductor receiving portions, the conductor receiving portions extending at an angle relative to a longitudinal axis of the housing. The first conductor receiving opening and the second conductor receiving opening have conductor spacing portions which extend from the conductor receiving opening. The conductor spacing portions extend in a direction which is essentially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the housing. The spacing portions are spaced apart by a distance. The dielectric material and the distance the spacing portions are spaced apart being selected to match the impedance of the cable.

Antenna apparatus includes a dielectric carrier having a first side and a second side. The antenna apparatus also includes a multi-band antenna having an interior surface and an exterior surface. The multi-band antenna includes a first section and a second section that are bent with respect to one another. The interior surface along the first and second sections defines a receiving space. The dielectric carrier is disposed within the receiving space such that the first section is positioned along the first side of the dielectric carrier and the second section is positioned along the second side of the dielectric carrier. The dielectric carrier includes at least one projection that covers a portion of the exterior surface of the multi-band antenna.

Surface-mount antenna apparatus and communication system having the same

A header connector includes a header housing having a mating end and a mounting end mounted to a circuit board. The header housing has a cavity at the mating end and a flange forming a seal pocket with a seal. A signal contact is received in a signal contact channel of the header housing having a mounting end having a compliant pin configured to be press-fit into a plated via of the circuit board. A ground shield is received in a ground shield channel of the header housing providing electrical shielding for the signal contact. The ground shield has a compliant pin configured to be press-fit into a plated via of the circuit board.

A communication system includes an antenna assembly and a housing holding the antenna assembly. The antenna assembly has an antenna element having a substrate and a dual dipole antenna circuit including a low-band ground terminal, a low-band feed terminal, a high-band ground terminal and a high-band feed terminal and a transmission line electrically connected to the dual dipole antenna circuit. The housing includes an upper shell and a lower shell meeting at an interface having upper and lower strain relief components at the interface to receive the transmission line. The upper shell has an upper locating feature and the lower shell has a lower locating feature interfacing to locate the upper shell relative to the lower shell.

Antenna assembly for a communication system

An electrical connector which includes a housing having a first side wall, a second side wall and end walls. A mating connector receiving cavity is provided between the first side wall and the second side wall. Terminals are positioned in the mating connector receiving cavity. A shield receiving area is provided on the first side wall and has shield receiving slots which extend through the first side and open into the mating connector receiving cavity. An outer shield member is positioned in the shield receiving area. The outer shield has end sections which extend essentially perpendicular to a planar section. The end sections extend into the mating connector receiving cavity through the shield receiving slots. Inner shield members are positioned in the mating connector receiving cavity. The inner shield members extend between the terminals to facilitate signal integrity.

Shielded vertical header

An antenna assembly for a wireless device includes an antenna cable having a feed line and a ground shield and a substrate. The antenna includes a low band ground terminal, a low band feed terminal, a high band ground terminal and a high band feed terminal. The low band ground terminal is electrically coupled to the ground shield of the antenna cable and capacitively coupled to the feed line of the antenna cable. The low band feed terminal is electrically coupled to the feed line of the antenna cable. The high band ground terminal is electrically coupled to the ground shield of the antenna cable and capacitively coupled to the feed line of the antenna cable. The high band feed terminal is electrically coupled to the feed line of the antenna cable. The low band ground terminal and the high band ground terminal are ground plane independent.

Antenna assembly for wireless device

A receptacle connector includes an outer housing, an inner housing, and an interface seal. The outer housing defines a cavity configured to receive a plug connector through a mating opening of the outer housing. The inner housing is disposed within the cavity of the outer housing. The inner housing holds a contact subassembly that is connected to a cable. The inner housing includes a sleeve that surrounds a mating section of the contact subassembly. The sleeve is spaced apart from an interior surface of the outer housing by an annular gap. The interface seal is on an outer surface of the sleeve. The interface seal engages an inner surface of a nose of the plug connector within the annular gap to seal an interface between the sleeve of the inner housing and the nose of the plug connector.

Sealed connector system

An electrical cable connector includes a contact subassembly having a center contact, a dielectric holder, and an outer contact. The dielectric holder defines a channel that is open at a top side of the dielectric holder. The center contact has a termination region that is held in the channel. The termination region includes a first cable insulation displacement (CID) feature. The outer contact includes a second CID feature extending from a base wall of the outer contact outside of the dielectric holder. The second CID feature extends into the channel through an aperture in the dielectric holder. The first CID feature engages a core conductor of a cable and the second CID feature engages a shield layer of the cable as the cable is loaded into the channel from above the top side of the dielectric holder.

Electrical cable connector and method of assembling the same

A connector system is provided that includes an electrical connector having a housing, a connector position assurance (CPA) element, and an actuator. The housing defines a socket that receives a mating connector. The CPA element is slidable relative to the housing between a released position and a locked position. The actuator is mounted on the housing in operable engagement with the CPA element. The actuator is moved from a blocking position to a clearance position as the mating connector is loaded into the socket. The actuator in the blocking position mechanically blocks the CPA element from being moved between the released position and the locked position. The actuator in the clearance position allows the CPA element to be moved between the released position and the locked position. The actuator attains the clearance position responsive to the mating connector being fully loaded in the housing.

A modular electrical connector assembly and method of assembly. The modular electrical connector assembly includes a first housing, a second housing and a third housing. The first housing has first electrical contacts inserted therein. The first housing has first contact isolation walls positioned between adjacent first electrical contacts. The second housing has second electrical contacts inserted therein. The second housing has second contact isolation walls positioned between adjacent second electrical contacts. The third housing has a first opening for positioning the first housing therein and a second opening for positioning the second housing therein. The third housing has third contact isolation walls. Respective first contact isolation walls, second contact isolation walls and third contact isolation walls align to provide separation between adjacent first electrical contacts and separation between adjacent second electrical contacts.
