A method can include providing compressional and shear-wave slowness data for a homogeneous, anisotropic formation at deviated borehole angles greater than 40 degrees and less than 90 degrees as defined by a vertical transverse isotropy (VTI) symmetry axis; providing a relationship for normal and tangential compliances (e.g., Band B); and, based on the data and the relationship, outputting a model for calculating anisotropy parameter values (e.g., &#x3b1;, &#x3b5;, .&#x3b4;) that characterize the homogeneous, anisotropic formation (e.g., along a borehole angle of 90 degrees). Various other apparatuses, systems, methods, etc., are also disclosed.

A steering compensation apparatus includes a road camber determiner to determine a first road camber at a road position in front of a vehicle using wheel trajectory data and height data of the road position, a road camber logic circuit to select, via a torque mapper mapping a plurality of road cambers to a plurality of first compensating torques, a first compensating torque corresponding to the first road camber and a steering controller to drive a motor to deliver the selected first compensating torque to a steering rack at the road position responsive to the first road camber.

At least one elastic parameter of a region of interest of a formation is modeled, and at least one velocity measurement acquired in a wellbore extending in the formation is predicted based on the modeling. The model is refined based on the predicted velocity measurement(s) and based on at least one actual measurement acquired from within a single wellbore.

Single well anisotropy inversion using velocity measurements

A method of characterizing shear wave anisotropy in a formation includes obtaining crossed-dipole waveforms from a borehole penetrating the formation over a range of depths and frequencies, determining far-field slowness in a fast-shear and slow-shear direction using a low-frequency portion of the crossed-dipole waveforms, and determining near-wellbore slowness in the fast-shear and slow-shear directions using a high-frequency portion of the crossed-dipole waveforms. The method also includes marking a selected depth of the formation as having intrinsic anisotropy if at the selected depth the far-field slowness in the fast-shear direction is less than the far-field slowness in the slow-shear direction and the near-wellbore slowness in the fast-shear direction is less than the near-wellbore slowness in the slow-shear direction. The selected depth is marked as having stress-induced anisotropy if the far-field slowness in the fast-shear direction is less than the far-field slowness in the slow-shear direction and the near-wellbore slowness in the fast-shear direction is greater than the near-wellbore slowness in the slow-shear direction.
