Injectable biopolymer compositions and associated systems and methods are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a biopolymer composition for treating an aneurysm is provided. The biopolymer composition can include an injectable hydrogel including: a biopolymer; a chemical crosslinker forming covalent bonds with the biopolymer; and a stabilizer configured to inhibit ex vivo precipitation of the biopolymer. The injectable hydrogel can have an ex vivo storage modulus of at least 100 Pa at 37° C. over a linear viscoelastic region of the injectable hydrogel. The ex vivo storage modulus can be greater than an ex vivo loss modulus of the injectable hydrogel over the linear viscoelastic region of the injectable hydrogel.

Injectable biopolymer compositions and associated systems and methods

A method for treating an aneurysm in accordance with a particular embodiment of the present technology includes intravascularly delivering a mixture including a biopolymer (e.g., chitosan) and a chemical crosslinking agent (e.g., genipin) to an aneurysm. The method further includes mixing the biopolymer and the chemical crosslinking agent to initiate chemical crosslinking of the biopolymer. The mixture is delivered to the aneurysm via a lumen and an exit port of a catheter while the chemical crosslinking is ongoing. The mixture exits the catheter as a single cohesive strand that at least partially agglomerates to form a mass occupying at least 75% of a total internal volume of the aneurysm. During delivery of the mixture, the method includes expanding a tubular flow diverter to reinforce a neck of the aneurysm.

Injectable scaffold for treatment of intracranial aneurysms and related technology

A system for detecting strokes includes a sensor device configured to obtain physiological data from a patient, for example brain activity data. The sensor device can include electrodes configured to be disposed at the back of the patient's neck or base of the skull. The electrodes can detect electrical signals corresponding to brain activity in the P3, Pz, and/or P4 brain regions or other brain regions. A computing device communicatively coupled to the sensor device is configured to receive the physiological data and analyze it to indicate whether the patient has suffered a stroke.

Systems and methods for detecting strokes

In some examples, a device includes at least three electrodes a first pair of electrodes and a second pair of electrodes. The device also includes circuitry configured to generate a first cardiac signal based on a first differential signal received across the first pair, generate a first brain signal based on the first differential signal received across the first pair, generate a second cardiac signal based on a second differential signal received across the second pair, and generate a second brain signal based on the second differential signal received across the second pair. The circuitry is also configured to output a composite cardiac signal based on the first cardiac signal and the second cardiac signal and to output a composite brain signal based on the first brain signal and the second brain signal.

Methods for forming an expandable tubular body having a plurality of braided filaments including a first filament including platinum or platinum alloy and a second filament including cobalt-chromium alloy. The methods include applying a first phosphorylcholine material directly on the platinum or platinum alloy of the first filament and applying a silane material on the second filament followed by a second phosphorylcholine material on the silane material on the second filament. The first and second phosphorylcholine materials each define a thickness of less than 100 nanometers.

Devices, systems, and methods for treatment of intracranial aneurysms

A system comprises a sensor device and processing circuitry. The sensor device comprises a housing configured to be disposed above shoulders of a patient, a plurality of electrodes on the housing, a motion sensor, and sensing circuitry configured to sense a brain electrical signal and a cardiac electrical signal via the electrodes, and a motion signal via the motion sensor. The processing circuitry is configured to determine values over time of one or more parameters from the brain electrical signal, determine values over time of one or more parameters from the cardiac electrical signal, and generate at least one of a detection, prediction, or a classification a condition of the patient based on the values and the motion signal.

Detection of patient conditions using signals sensed on or near the head

Expandable devices for occluding bifurcation aneurysms are disclosed herein. Several of the embodiments are directed towards an expandable device comprising a mesh configured to be deployed at a treatment site including blood vessel bifurcation of a human patient so that the mesh extends across a neck of an aneurysm and prevents or limits blood flow through the mesh and into the aneurysm. The mesh can comprise one or more circumferentially discontinuous portions so that, when the device is deployed at the treatment site, the device does not substantially impede flow from a parent blood vessel to two or more branching blood vessels. Systems and methods for delivering an expandable device of the present technology are also disclosed herein.

Expandable devices and associated systems and methods

Retrieval of material from vessel lumens can be improved by use of a distal element comprising an expandable mesh. a treatment device includes an elongated member having a proximal portion and a distal portion configured to be positioned within a blood vessel at a treatment site at or near a thrombus. A distal element comprising a plurality of woven filaments defining a shaft at a proximal portion and a body distal of the shaft is coupled to the distal portion of the elongated member via a connection assembly. In an expanded state, at least a portion of the distal element is configured to be in apposition with the blood vessel wall at the treatment site to anchor or stabilize the elongated member with respect to the blood vessel. The distal element can be electrically coupled to an extracorporeal current generator.

Retrieval of material from vessel lumens can be improved by use of a distal element comprising an expandable mesh. a treatment device includes an elongated member having a proximal portion and a distal portion configured to be positioned within a blood vessel at a treatment site at or near a thrombus. A distal element comprising an expandable mesh is coupled to the distal portion of the elongated member via a connection assembly. In an expanded state, at least a portion of the mesh is configured to be in apposition with the blood vessel wall at the treatment site to anchor or stabilize the elongated member with respect to the blood vessel. The distal element can be electrically coupled to an extracorporeal current generator.

Vascular remodeling devices can include a proximal section, an intermediate section, and a distal section. During deployment, the proximal section can expand from a compressed delivery state to an expanded state and anchor the device in an afferent vessel of a bifurcation. The distal section expands from the compressed delivery state to an expanded state that may be substantially planar, approximately semi-spherical, umbrella shaped, or reverse umbrella shaped. The distal section is positioned in a bifurcation junction across the neck of an aneurysm or within an aneurysm. The intermediate section allows perfusion to efferent vessels. Before or after the device is in position, embolic material may be used to treat the aneurysm. The distal section can act as a scaffolding to prevent herniation of the embolic material. The device can be used for clot retrieval with integral distal embolic protection.
