A container and closure package in that includes a container having a body, a finish wall extending from the body with at least one external thread, a circular throat at an axial edge of the finish wall remote from the body and having a lesser inner diameter than the finish wall, and a pour spout extending axially from the throat at greater inner diameter than the throat. The container body, finish wall, throat and pour spout are of integrally blow molded construction as formed, with the inside diameter of the throat being optionally reamed as required for sealing engagement with the closure. The closure has a base wall, a peripheral outer skirt extending from the base wall with an internal thread for receipt over the external thread on the container finish wall, and an internal skirt extending from the base wall and spaced radially inwardly from the outer skirt for sliding plug-sealing receipt within the throat, with the pour spout being disposed between the inner and outer skirts of the closure.

Liquid dispensing package and method of manufacture

A mold system for blow molding hollow plastic containers includes an extruder for providing a hollow tube of plastic material having a longitudinal axis. Three mold segments include at least two mold segments that are movable against the third mold segment, in directions perpendicular to the tube axis, between a closed position in which the mold segments form a hollow mold cavity in which the tube is captured and an open position spaced from the tube axis. A blow pin is disposed on one of the mold segments to pierce the tube in the closed position of the mold segments. One of the mold segments may be a mold core movably mounted on a second of the mold segments, and cylinders are mounted on the second mold segment for moving the mold core between an extended position and a retracted position with respect to the second mold segment. The blow pin may be movably mounted on the mold core.

Method and apparatus for blow molding hollow plastic containers

An improvement to a package is provided that includes a container having a label secured thereto by an adhesive and a closure secured to the container. The improvement is for identifying the package and includes at least one of the container, the adhesive and the closure having a plurality of micro-particle taggants with multiple colored layers to provide a code for identifying the package.

A package for dispensing a liquid product that includes an outer shell having a flexible resilient sidewall, a base wall and a finish surrounding an outlet opening. An inner bag-shaped liner is disposed within the outer shell, and is unattached to the sidewall and the base wall of the outer shell so as to be collapsible with respect to the outer shell as product is dispensed from the liner. A dispensing structure is secured to the finish. An opening in the base wall of the outer shell vents the volume between the shell and the liner to atmosphere. An atmospheric vent valve includes a base secured over the base wall of the outer shell, a valve pocket within the base having an atmospheric vent opening, and a valve disk received in the valve cup so that air pressure holds the valve disk against the base over the atmospheric vent opening when the container sidewall is squeezed.

Multilayer container package for dispensing a liquid product

A multilayer container for dispensing product that includes a relatively rigid outer body and a relatively flexible inner liner for holding product to be dispensed. The relatively rigid outer body includes, and preferably consists essentially of, an outer layer of virgin polyethylene such as HDPE, and an inner thicker layer that includes polyethylene regrind. The relatively flexible inner liner includes, and preferably consists essentially of, an outer delamination layer adjacent to the inner layer of the body and composed of nylon, nylon blends or EVOH, an inner layer of polyethylene such as LLDPE, and an adhesive securing the inner and outer layers of the liner. The relatively thin outer HDPE layer on the plastic body provides desired appearance, while the thicker inner layer provides structural rigidity using reground plastics. The nylon, nylon blend or EVOH outer liner layer provides improved barrier properties against migration of water, gases and flavorants, while the inner layer of LLDPE provides primarily enhanced flexibility and freedom from cracking, as well as additional barrier moisture qualities.

Multilayer container

A dispensing package for fluent products includes a container of one-piece integrally molded plastic construction having a hollow flexible body, and a rigid integral finish defined by a deck that spans one end of the body, a package dispensing opening in the deck and a wall upstanding from a perimeter of the deck surrounding the deck and the opening. An actuator disk is mounted within the peripheral wall overlying the deck and the dispensing opening, and is pivotal between a closed position closing the opening and an open position for dispensing product from the opening through the actuator disk.

Disk-top fluid dispensing package

A pump dispenser package that includes a container having a cylindrical neck with an axial edge that surrounds a container outlet opening. The neck has an internal circumferential channel that extends around the neck in a plane adjacent to but spaced from the axial edge of the neck. A pump assembly has a cylindrical housing with an integrally formed radially outwardly extending flange. A flat annular adapter ring has an inner edge secured to the pump housing in abutment with the flange and an outer edge received in the internal channel in the container neck to mount the pump assembly to the container. In the preferred construction, the pump housing has a radial ledge spaced from the flange, and the inner edge of the adapter ring is captured between the ledge and the flange. The outer edge of the adapter ring preferably has an annular peripheral bead that is received by snap-fit within the channel in the container neck. The adapter ring has a flat upper surface that is coplanar with the axial edge of the neck.

Pump dispenser package

A container and closure package for dispensing a fluent product that includes an integrally molded plastic container and a one-piece molded plastic closure. The closure is secured to the container within a recess in the upper portion of the container so that the closure conforms to the outlines of the container body. The closure has a base with an annular wall and an interior bead that is received by snap fit over an exterior bead on an annular wall surrounding the outlet opening of the container. A pair of laterally opposed aprons depend from the closure base, and have interior beads that are received by snap fit over exterior beads on the container for enhanced retention of the closure on the container. Strengthening webs extend along the recessed portion of the container to the annular wall surrounding the container outlet opening to strengthen the container against buckling during application of the closure. Gussets extend from the closure aprons to the annular wall of the closure base for rigidifying the closure base.

A multilayer container including an outer relatively rigid plastic layer having a body portion, a finish defining an opening and a base having an atmospheric vent opening therethrough. The container includes an inner flexible plastic layer of relative thin flexible material throughout which does not adhere to the outer plastic layer. The inner flexible layer has a closed bottom portion engaging the inner surface of the finish of the outer plastic layer and a radially extending flange portion of the inner layer overlying the finish of the outer layer. The outer layer preferably comprises an olefin and the inner layer preferably comprises amorphous nylon. The method of making the multilayer container includes coextruding a parison comprising the relatively thick outer layer of plastic material and the relatively thin inner layer of plastic material, closing molds about the parison, blow molding the parison to form the outer rigid plastic layer having a body portion, the finish defining an opening, and the base and the inner flexible layer of relatively thin flexible material.
