Flexible high-speed generation and formatting of application-specified strings in floating point and related formats is available through table-based base conversion which may be integrated with custom formatting, and through printf-style functionality based on separate control string parsing and specialized format command sequence execution.

Formatting floating point numbers

Base64 encoding and decoding advances are characterized. Some embodiments rely on only a single bit shifting operation; some have no reliance on bit-shifting. Some access data source bytes with multi-byte reads, and use those data source bytes as indexes into an encoding lookup table. Some use a table with four quadrants, each of which contains a copy of the same 64 encoding values. Some use a negative value as both a counter and an index. Some exclude BSWAP instructions even with a little-endian processor. Some partition a data source into N partitions, which are then encoded or decoded concurrently. In some, partition length is based on expected processor performance. Unrolled loops, exemplary assembly language code and coding choices, division using MagicNumber multiplication, terminal null addition, encoding/decoding applications, and other examples are also presented.

Improvements for Base64 encoding and decoding

A note pad is attached to a device having a handle and a base. Kinetic force is applied through the device to stun or crush a target pest between a top sheet of the note pad and a wall or floor. The top sheet does not have previously applied adhesive for trapping insects, and hence does not generally adhere to the wall or floor. The note pad top sheet can be removed, wrapped around the target's remains, and placed in a wastebasket for disposal.

A grip strip and a tape can be spiraled or braided together. The grip strip has a mechanical indentation grip, or an adhesion grip, for example.

In some cases, the monitoring and analysis begins with selection of a group of processes to monitor, while in other cases it begins with monitoring of network and/or user update activities in order to narrow the group of suspect processes. Devices, configured media, and method products are also described.

An acknowledgement of the legal rights is presented through the I/O interface. If the user selects the acknowledgement, the user is allowed to access at least one feature of the device. The user is prevented from accessing the at least one feature of the device if the user does not select the acknowledgement.

A member of an online community has an online identity published in the online community, and owns an offline identity which is not published there. The member manifests consent to a privacy review of an electronic communication involving the member, to help prevent disclosure of the member's offline identity within the online community. The electronic communication is reviewed by a human privacy reviewer and/or by automatically scanning for privacy concern triggers. Review results are provided to the member, who provides an opinion of the review that is then reflected in a summary of the reviewer's online reputation.
