A positioning system incorporating a time offset into the pseudo random noise codes. Incorporating the time offset, a transmitter from a pseudo satellite sends pseudo random noise codes to a receiver which recognizes the pseudo random noise codes with the offset. The offset is typically done as one or more hours. Knowing the offset value, the receiver then acquires the signal, and uses it to determine position, distance, etc. The use of an offset allows conventional receivers to ignore the time offset signal by selecting a time offset value which is greater than the searching time allowed in the conventional receiver. Equipment capable of recognizing the time offset signal is capable of thereby ignoring and/or distinguishing incoming signals from other sources.

GPS augmentation using time offset code modulation

A system for attitude determination of a platform in global positioning systems (GPS) is disclosed herein. The system includes at least two receivers and an attitude determination circuit. The receivers each include an antenna. The antenna is capable of receiving GPS signals. Each receiver also produces a representation of the received GPS signal by estimating how fast the distance from a GPS satellite to the antenna is changing by determining a rate of change of a locally generated code sequence as it changes to approximate the GPS signal transmitted by the GPS satellite. The attitude determination circuit calculates platform attitude from the rate of change determined by the receivers.

System and method for attitude determination in global positioning systems (GPS)

A method for increasing signal acquisition in global positioning system receivers is described. An algorithm for a banked filter of the invention provides low attenuation between frequency bins in which all of the frequency bins produce useful results and no multiplications are required to implement the algorithm. A shortened sampling interval is provided and a banked filter process is implemented. The multiple outputs of the banked filter are detected and summed in post detection filters.
