A gauge plate insulator includes an L-shaped insulating member having a base configured to be positioned between first and second gauge plate members and a leg extending from the base, a metallic backing plate having a first part configured to engage a first gauge plate member, a second part configured to engage the leg of the L-shaped insulating member, and a third part extending between the first part and the second part of the metallic backing plate, a first fastener configured to be received by a first opening and a second fastener configured to be received by a second opening defined by the second part of the metallic backing plate and an opening defined by the leg of the L-shaped insulating member, and an insulation plate configured to be positioned between a portion of the second fastener and the second part of the metallic backing plate.

Gauge plate insulator

A center support sleeve for a bonded rail joint bar that includes a body having a head portion, a web portion, and a base portion. The head portion depends from the web portion, which depends from the base portion. The head portion and the base portion are bent in the same direction thereby defining a recess area therebetween. The web portion of the body also defines a plurality of holes.

Center supported bond joint

A rail joint bar includes a body having a first end, a second end positioned opposite from the first end, a first side, a second side positioned opposite from the first side, a top portion positioned between the first and second sides, and a bottom portion positioned between the first and second sides and positioned opposite from the top portion. The body having a first section adjacent to the first end of the body, a second section adjacent to the second end of the body, and an intermediate section positioned between the first section and the second section. The second side of the body includes a first protrusion and a second protrusion spaced from the first protrusion, with a width of the first protrusion at the intermediate section of the body larger than a width of the first protrusion at the first and second sections of the body.

Anti-rail rollover device

A railroad rail includes a body defining a first section and a tapered second section with the body defining a head section, a web section depending from the head section, and a base section depending from the web section. The head section, the web section, and the base section define an end surface configured to mate with a corresponding end surface of a complementary railroad rail when joined together. The railroad rail is formed from a single bent railroad rail having only a single bend defined by the head section, web section, and base section of the body of the railroad rail.

Single bend rail

A tie plate assembly including a tie plate, an insulator plate assembly, and first and second clips configured to secure a rail to the tie plate assembly. The tie plate has a body with a top surface and the insulator plate assembly is positioned on the top surface of the tie plate. The insulator plate assembly includes a top pad and an abrasive plate. The first and second clips comprise an electrically-insulating material.

Modular insulated tie plate

A rail joint bar for use in an insulated lap joint assembly includes a longitudinal extending body defining a plurality of holes therein for receiving fasteners. The body has a first end and a second end positioned at opposite ends of the body relative to a longitudinal direction of the body. The body is bent forming a first portion adjacent to the first end, a second portion adjacent to the second end and spaced from the first portion in the longitudinal direction, and an intermediate portion defined therebetween and positioned between the first and second ends. The first portion and the second portion are substantially parallel to each other and, and the intermediate portion of the body is configured to accommodate an increase in thickness of a web section at a point where two railroad rails are joined.

Lap joint

A rail joint arrangement comprises two rails. The rails have adjacent rail ends separated and thereby forming a gap. The rails have a top end containing a rail head and a bottom end. The gap is defined between the top end and the bottom end of the rails, and the width of the gap is non-uniform throughout its entire length. In addition, the rail joint arrangement comprises at least one electric insulator positioned within the gap. The rail joint arrangement is fastened together by a rail joint bar attaching the two rails together.

Method and arrangement to insulate rail ends

A rail joint assembly is provided for joining abutting railroad rails with an electrically-insulated joint. The rail joint assembly comprises abutting railroad rails compressing an insulating gasket therebetween and rail joint bars secured through a plurality of holes by fasteners to the adjacent railroad rails. The rail joint bars comprise a body and an insulating spacer comprising a porous mesh screen and washer. A layer of epoxy is sandwiched between a rail joint bar and railroad rail and comprises a rigid epoxy on lateral portions of a first side of a rail joint bar and a flexible epoxy placed on a central portion of the first side of a rail joint bar. Rail joint bars are rectangular shaped and may have a cutout.

Rail joint bars and rail joint assemblies

A lap joint assembly that includes two spaced apart mating railroad end sections that are double bent and machine tapered and trimmed to conform in spatial alignment with one another, an electrical insulating material positioned between the two machined mating rail sections and at least one fastener attaching the machined railroad rail sections to one another.

A notched tie plate insulator adapted to be received within a recessed area of a tie plate of a railroad rail system. The insulator includes a bottom plate having a first side and a second side and a pair of side plates attached to the bottom plate. Each side of the bottom plate defines a notch therein. The side plate includes a longitudinal extending body having an upper surface and a lower surface and defining a recess on the upper surface and a protrusion on the lower surface, wherein the protrusion of each of the side plates is received within the notches of the bottom plate.
