Restroom stall door latch combined with a mobile phone holder

A receptacle that can receive a cell phone or other mobile communication device or other useful objects such as keys that attaches over a restroom or changing room door latch used to secure the door during use of the restroom or changing room. Receptacle's position such that the usual insert a cell phone into the receptacle when the restroom stall door is secured closed and locked by a latch bolt. The user will not forget the cell phone because it will be necessary to remove the cell phone to access the latch bolt for unlocking the stall door. The device can also include advertising with DC and disposed on the receptacle surface or adjacent a portion of the receptacle surface. An ultraviolet light can be activated to help as a disinfectant device to kill bacteria and viruses on any cell phones or other objects in the receptacle.

A method is disclosed for using a spawning agent and a steroid to stimulate gonadal development, oocyte maturation, and meiotic synchrony in oysters and other bivalves. Advantages of the novel technique include a decrease in the variability of fertilization among different individuals, a decrease in the variability of larval production by synchronizing gamete maturation within a population, the ability to mature and spawn broodstock without sacrificing the animals, to conserve and maintain genetic lines, and the ability to improve cross-breeding programs, with or without the use of transgenics, by repeated spawning of individuals. The method may be used, for example, in oyster hatchery production, with an emphasis on conservation of broodstock. The invention allows the successful and repeatable breeding of either diploids or polyploids, selective breeding, and the breeding of transgenic oyster lines, all without the need to sacrifice the founder animals. The animals are first treated with estradiol-17&#x3b2; or an agonist. The estradiol-17&#x3b2; or agonist promotes the maturation of oocytes, so that mature oocytes are then released with high meiotic synchrony in response to subsequent induced spawning stimuli such as serotonin.

Enhancing maturation of oocytes in bivalves

A method for enhancing the effect of a toxicant such as chlorine or potassium on bivalve molluscs such as zebra mussels. Application of serotonin or a serotonin agonist in low concentrations inhibits the mussels' ability to close their valves to protect themselves from the effect of any toxicants in the water. Thus administering serotonin or a serotonin agonist for a period of time, followed by administering a toxicant, substantially enhances the effect of the toxicant on the zebra mussels. Thus less of the toxicant need be administered to control zebra mussels. The concentration of serotonin needed to enhance toxicant control of exotic zebra mussels has been found to be at or below the threshold of serotonin activity on native bivalves, at least those native to the lower Mississippi River. Furthermore, serotonin is naturally degraded rapidly by aquatic microorganisms. Thus the serotonin itself is environmentally benign; and it allows the use of toxicants at lower levels than otherwise could be used, reducing any environmental impact of the toxicants. Serotonin agonists such as trifluoromethylphenylpiperazine may be used in place of serotonin.

Method for controlling bivalves such as zebra mussels

Described herein are laminate compositions comprising a polyarylate, or blends thereof, derived from a dihydric phenol and an aromatic dicarboxylic acid which is laminated upon the surface of a poly(aryl ether), particularly polysulfone. In contrast to the highly ultraviolet sensitive polysulfone, the laminate compositions of this invention exhibit good weatherability including no adverse effects, e.g., degradation, from prolonged ultraviolet irradiation exposure. The laminate compositions of this invention have beneficial utility in solar energy applications.
