A system for transmitting power and motion is presented in which at least one component for transmitting power and motion communicates power and motion to another component in which two means are articles of polyketone polymer. In one aspect of the invention the component for transmitting power and motion are spur gears. In another aspect of the invention at least one of the component for transmitting power and motion includes worm gearing.

Compatible polymeric means for communicating power and motion

A method of improving the tribological properties of a polyketone polymer are presented in which polyketone polymer starting materials are blended with an aramide. Blends produced according to this process are also presented. The blend is particularly useful in the manufacture of articles used in applications where surfaces are in contact during motion.

Polyketone polymer blend

It is herein disclosed a polymer blend having and exhibiting excellent tribological properties comprising a major amount of polyketone polymers and a minor amount of one or more silicone oil. The blend also has and exhibits improved lubricity and has a low DCOF of from about 0.3-0.4. The blend is particularly useful in the manufacture of articles used in applications where surfaces are in contact during motion.

An apparatus is disclosed for the resilient spinwelding of two (thermoplastic) body portions to one another. The incorporation of resilient members between the prior art 'hard surfaced' spinweld apparatus and the body portions to be welded together significantly decreases the spinweld time, and in the case of container/lid systems used for food packaging, increases the burst pressure of the container/lid.
